Hi and welcome. i was in Swampscott last summer on vacation and on a trip into Marblehead spotted a really mint Vespa GS which was two tone green. Dont know if this is close to you or not, but it really was a spectacular scooter. Perhaps you should have a run up to Marblehead to investigate?

ive been told that it depends on your regulator - it will only allow a certain power output. If youve got your 60W headlight on and you brake and indicate, there will not be enough power to be shared between all these bulbs.
Try a 35W halogen bulb and see if that is any good.

its probably better to use caustic soda. you could dilute it with coke to make it even better I suppose

Mine is an early '78 Mk1 P200e, I was wondering if you have a neutral light that doesnt work in your speedo? The early ones tend to have them but nobody is really clear as to why. cheers Citydaz

Hi, ive just fitted a new front hub and brake shoes since my front brake was useless. First test drive today confirms brakes now much improved but now my speedo has stopped working? Could it be I put too much grease on the spindle etc? I was careful not to apply any on the threaded section. Any ideas?

good advice is to challenge the MOT tester and always ask for them to show the you the regulations. My Lambretta nearly failed the mot because it didnt have a lockable seat! The criteria is actually that the seat must be "secure". Since it is bolted to the frame I argued that this made it quite secure. He didnt say much after that and gave me the MOT.

Yes I have done some searching around and I think this is a better option an LML fork with disc brake crucially with original type round hub, which can be modded to fit a P200e retails at £300 whilst a Grimeca kit costs £344. Cheers for the suggestion!!

The neutral light was a US requirement - not sure why European spec. scooters would have miles per hour speedo's fitted, but I can understand why for the UK it would have been the same parts bin at the factory.

The first 5000 or so P200es in the UK also had US spec speedometers with the neutral light in them.

was thinking of getting a semi-hydraulic grimeca disc brake for my P220e. However, in the small print with the marketing blurb it says I will need SIP wheel rims to avoid snagging. I dont really want to buy new rims since I have just had my std. rims powder coated. Is there any modification I can do to avoid buying new rims? Cheers

Does anyone know if or where you can get a plug or cover to hide the ugly hole and the bolt on the steering head?

seems OK to me, you need to get a good welder who knows how to weld aluminium. Whilst you are at it I would do a complete strip down, replace all seals, bearings, bolts, piston, barrel and head.

Speaking as a "purist", I would always advise to buy italian, as to my mind this is the whole ethos of being a mod/scooterist. Theres nothing wrong with buying a late model PX. If youre not technically minded or are short on free time (as I am) than I would suggest you also need to buy a trailer to take your scoot to a garage if/when problems occur. I suppose this applies equally if you buy an Indian model as they also can break down. At the end of the day its your choice!

option 1 put a sports exhaust on - this may give you + 2hp (SIP2 exhaust) option 2 put a std 150 head/piston/barrel on (with or without option 1) option 3 put a BGM 177 kit on.

shouldnt be a problem importing it, just make sure you have all the spanish paperwork, and have a good read of the hmgov website.

seems to me that it would be a waste of a vespa engine and a waste of a lambretta frame!

Hi, Im from Lymm near Warrington. Been the proud owner of a 1978 P200e for just over 12 months now (in addition to an Li125 series 3). Bought it primarily to use when the Lammie is broken / on the sick. Slowly been replacing fasteners, seat, indicator lenses etc, in preparation for a major rebuild when cash permits. Currently struggling with the headset wiring following putting a new headlamp in over the week-end. Couldn't believe how different the ride is lammie v vespa. Im often asked which one I like the most, but I reply its like choosing between the wife and the mistress!
