Hello there, could anybody please give me an opinion. I have owned a 1965 lambretta and a 1961 Vespa. Both were original and in need of restoration. A lack of time and knowledge meant they were never restored so were sold, stupidly. I am keen to buy another as I love all things scooter and mod etc. I have no tech knowledge or ability, so I cannot take anything on that is not 'perfect' or reliable. I have found a company called Tasso that can make new LML scooters look like vintage originals. Are these any good? What do the purist think? Would this be a good starting point - I never rode my others!!
Any options and feedback would be gratefully recieved. Thank you

I'm just the same as you.Dont know enough about scooters. Bought a px,As one guy told me,,,if you buy a lml You will always say what if,and in your own head you know it's not a VESPA PX And if they are just as good WHY are they so much cheaper,

Speaking as a "purist", I would always advise to buy italian, as to my mind this is the whole ethos of being a mod/scooterist. Theres nothing wrong with buying a late model PX. If youre not technically minded or are short on free time (as I am) than I would suggest you also need to buy a trailer to take your scoot to a garage if/when problems occur. I suppose this applies equally if you buy an Indian model as they also can break down. At the end of the day its your choice!

Since owning a 2006 PX125E, I've bought older and older 'fixer uppers' but I've stuck to the P Range of Vespas (really want a Douglas Rod, but well out of my price range, and they're English!). As far as I am aware, there's no real stigma with owning an LML, I've always preferred the proper thing. If you have the money, but the last of the PX line, and go with that. Then it's not a clone, and if you don't have the technical ability, you have the dealer warranty (which could be a ball ache, just do your homework).

I'd stay away from those Tasso bodykits, they look awful
