Hi martino, Im upgrading the front forks on my '78 mk1 P200e to 20mm and disc brake in the next month or so, so the old 16mm forks, (and a new front shocker) will be surplus to requirements. You can have first dibs if you want for a modest fee. let me know if you could be interested cheers Citydaz

would a compromise be to have a 10" wheel on the rear and keep the front at 8"? Is this possible? or would it be the worse of both worlds?

went to the shop on friday to check up on the latest developments. 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears were f***** so were replaced. I brought in my kickstart and CDI for fitting. The motor started 3rd kick and seems OK. More testing next week apparently. The carb has a "snakehead" fitted which is a benefit. The choke cable and lever will be replaced which is also an upgrade. Will use the old spare ram-air foam filter from my Lambretta for the carburettor since the airbox and tube has been dispensed with. more updates next week when the engine will be ready for collection.

Yes , floorstanders are defo the way to go. Wanted a pair of mission floorstanders last time I upgraded my speakers, but with two young children crawling and toddling around I had to compromise with some mordaunt short wall mounted speakers. The mission sub-woofer gives a good balance since the mordaunts are a bit on the bright side.

Sounds good !
what about the sub-woofer though?
You need some bottom end for maximum Massive Attack.

Try alraldite or some other type of hardener / filler, then try and screw the fastener into it. or else drill out the plastic thread and insert some type of plastic or metal helicoil ?

landed at manchester airport at 10.40am, picked up my car from the car park, where I had previously placed my P200e engine, hotfooted it up to Denton, dropped said engine off at Mike Phoenix scooter shop, discussed man citys latest victories with mike, before returning home, doing the washing, replacing the security light at the front of the house, and then picking up my daughter from school, taking her to ballet lessons, and then loggin on to scooter websites to discuss what i have mostly been doing all day......

Not really a technical discussion, but more of a declaration of achievement.
Ive managed to remove the engine from the frame with little if any collateral damage - apart from the choke lever being disconnected from the cable, how does it reconnect?, removed the barrel and piston, kick start, disconnected the wires & cables and degreased the casing. Took it to the shop this afternoon and the list of replacement parts continues to grow - the rear hub is now no good, the electronic ignition may be shot, and a new cosa clutch is reccommended. Apart from that happy days! The Pinasco 215 kit is the upgrade of choice with a SIP road 2.0 and i guess theres more to come!

2% ratio, any 2T oil should be fine - mineral or semi synthetic. Fully synthetic is a waste of money on non-tuned engines.

yes, the front brake is sh*te on my P200e as well. Will be fitting a disc brake as soon as kit / barrell tune job is complete.
Also, forgot to add that the cruciform needs replacing, so the Im considering all options in rebuilding the engine, whilst the cases are spilt. cheers Citydaz

Ive been quoted £440 for the kit. I thought that this was expensive since the polini kit is £350 and you get 10 extra cc's.

Im planning on upgrading the stock 197cc engine in my 1978 P200e. Was originally thinking of the polini 225 kit, but a trusted dealer has advised on the Pinasco 215cc kit. Ive got a SIP road 2.0 exhaust waiting for it. Any advice or experience of the Pinasco kit? Im not wanting a "screamer" or anything daft, just a reliable, usable scoot with a decent turn of speed. cheers.

First song would be "Atmosphere" by Joy Division and then finally "Goodbye Cruel World" by Pink Floyd. Also "song to the siren" by This Mortal Coil, but I think i may be over-egging it a bit with 3 maudling songs !

Iam afraid my choices are a bit predictable and stereotyped:
The Jam - 1977 The Who - A&B sides Northern Soul - a cheap compilation CD

Hi Ive got a couple of Tacima mains conditoners from maplins. One for my hi-fi (cambridge azur 640 audio amp, arcam cd, project carbon turntable), and one for my TV, dvd, soundbase. Only about £35 and it gets 5 stars from what hi-fi. They really do make a difference, even the wife noticed the improvement.
Dont worry about having a "basic" set up, you can improve the weakest component as you go. In a moment of madness I once paid £100 for the power lead into my CD!!
Try to make make friends with an audio buff - that way you can get his cast-offs for cheap!

I dont think that Im too keen on them either. Looks like something a "rocker" would put on their Triumph!
