I've just replaced the screen on my T5 mk1. When I took the headset apart one of the four screws had nothing to screw into as the plastic pillar was broken off yet the screw was still firmly in place. When I put the headset back together I couldn't get this screw to grip onto anything so I now have a vibrating headset which after a 25 mile trip yesterday caused the other 3 screws to shake loose so had to ride home with one hand on the handlebars and the other holding the headset on! Any tips on how to get round this much appreciated.

Not sure how they fit, would a spire nut/clip work?

It's held on by 4 screws at each corner. There are 2 plastic pillars at the front which you screw up into. One of my pillars is missing but before I took it apart somehow all screws were securely in place. How can I put a screw in if there's nothing for it to grip as it just drops out and 3 screws doesn't seem strong enough to hold the headset securely?

Try alraldite or some other type of hardener / filler, then try and screw the fastener into it. or else drill out the plastic thread and insert some type of plastic or metal helicoil ?

as jack says , if youve got the broken off pillar you can try super glue to hold it then either jb weld or fiberglass resin ,you need to rough it with a file an clean with acetone 1st .but its only temporary an will crack off again one day .must be the only headset on a vespa that actually had all 4 screws to start with ,most dont .try tightening the 3 remaining ones back up with a blob of sealant or low strength loctite on the threads . Thanks for all the advice. Will try securing the remaining 3 screws with some loctite and see how that holds up over all the potholes! Cheers
