Not sure if that scoot has a front brake switch, if it does, it should be under the headset top, inline with the front brake cable

Tytus, where are you from? UK PX's of that age didn't have a front brake light switch.๐
None that I have seen.๐ ( he says, remembering getting schooled on points P200's and trying to cover his back! Lol ).
Ride safe

Douglas is a nice name for your scoot! I prefer to call mine by a girls name as
I think of my scoots as feminine, so mines called Bessy!๐๐ J

1980 px wont have a brake light switch on the front brake .not needed by law before 83 .there are a few usa/german spec scoots that were imported by piaggio into uk that had a switch .its in-line with cable an sits under the headset top over the throttle tube . have you been told you should have one ,by a mot guy or another scooterist .is the scoot still on drum brakes or is it converted to disc .drum models got a switch in 1984 , on discs the switch is on lever/master cylinder .H

All my answers were just me trying to take the mick back, 2 scoots called Douglas and Bessy!
as Jim Royal would say "My Arse " ๐๐๐๐๐๐

Vespa model characteristics at any given date aside, from the horses mouth is the only reliable source if youโre dealing with MOT requirements (.gov.uk): www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/m1s01000301.htmStatutory guidance MOT inspection manual: class 1 and 2 vehicles:โMachines first used before 1 April 1986 must have a stop lamp that operates from at least one brake control.
Machines first used on or after 1 April 1986 must have a stop lamp that operates from both brake controls.
However, a small number of machines first used from this date were approved with the stop lamp operated by only one control. A machine should only be failed if you are certain that it was originally manufactured to operate from both controlsโ. My frame is 1984 โ no front brake switch, and never a problem, for what itโs worth.

And for what it's worth from me, my MOT man a few years ago, tried to make me fit a front brake light switch to a motorcyle I once owned, it was reg 1983. I told him about the "1986" rule and his reply was " I'm the qualified MOT tester and I' m telling you, you need a front brake light fitted and working!". I just took the bike somewhere else and got the MOT, no brother๐๐.

good advice is to challenge the MOT tester and always ask for them to show the you the regulations. My Lambretta nearly failed the mot because it didnt have a lockable seat! The criteria is actually that the seat must be "secure". Since it is bolted to the frame I argued that this made it quite secure. He didnt say much after that and gave me the MOT.
