tell you what there is not much rust on this frame considering its 24 year old, the floor was coated with black gloss paint so i expected it to be hiding something underneath but no, nothing but shiny metal.

Think I would keep it going nuts after 30mph, it would make me feel amazing doing 40! 😆 it would just be nice to know how fast you are going, the cheap indian speedo dont sit right either, thought about a sip one but there is two much involved.

doulsy, I' m in the same boat, I have a new speedo to fit too. I'll be doing what I always do in this situation and just keep the old speedo, that way I can just hand it to any new owner, with the old MOTs, to show them the milage. All the best Jim☺ my scooter never had a speedo and had not seen an MOT or a road for that matter for 3 decades, new speedo went on it after resto and its just done over a thousand miles, i dont really care what milage shows but my insurance has note of it because im on limited milage, almost 40 year old bike and no one can prove the milage is not genuine , i spoke to previous owner and he cant even remember the scooter , H, i thought about the drill, so that actually works?

bought an original speedo for my p200 as the one i have goes bonkers when it hits 30 mph, is there any way to alter the milage so its the same as the one im replacing?

Oh, multi bike policies calculate the premium based on the total value of the bikes insured, so if you add a T5 worth say £2k it may only add £20 the policy, maybe less, but if you'd do it part way through the year the admin charge will likely be more than the cost of the extra cover! just off the phone and they told me about the 30 days, they say you can get an extension on that incase your waiting on dvla replying, so there is a £25 admin fee, plus £10 agreed evalution means i would have to pay them £47 if i added it to my policy just now, so looks like your bang on Bryno.

thanks for the reply's, i called them last night to renew my insurance for my p200 which is £200 plus break down cover, they say its so high because they believe the p200 has been modified and fitted with a 125 engine and is a specialised policy, after the half hour call i asked about adding this project to my policy but was told to phone customer services, i will give them a call later.

some wires might be touching, if wires are touching then the stator wont put out, get a voltage meter

The first 5000 or so P200es in the UK also had US spec speedometers with the neutral light in them. you sure they were not european? i just saw a euro p2 with px side panels and neutral light

dolphin glaze will be ready to rub in ten minutes and it will stop any sinkage, no need for tons of high build primer, just a few coats and a light flatten before you paint, trust me, i just used alloy wheel silver.

or put a thin layer of dolphin glazed on it, rub it down with 180 grit dry, that should fill the pits, give it a coat of primer, rub it wet with 800 grit, dry it, clean it and paint it.

I did Google but that was again, all mixed responses, I was hoping there would be a definite list somewhere or Piaggio spec sheet maybe. The Scoot in question is an imported Italian model. I'm guessing that Piaggio just gradually changed their models bit by bit with no major overhaul and no doubt different regions had different specs too. No biggie, I prefer the raw pre mix Vespa models - I then know that oil is in the fuel rather than assuming it is with autolube - but as long as the body is what I want I could put up with an EFL 😉 all the usa p200e's had battery and autolube, i used to come across different views when i was rebuilding my p200e and there is various wiring diagrams for the p200e. cant be a great deal of original p200e's still on the road. Edit: some european p200s had battery as well, not sure about the autolube.

have you tried ajusting the carb? its pretty easy, look it up online, think for a spaco carb you turn screw fully in then turn it out 1.5 times, if its a dellorto its 2.5 times, i might have this the wrong way round so check online first. if its reving really high like mad then it could be air leak. as for indicators see the sticky above.

yes, can't wait to get the scooter out of the shed, done 700 miles last summer compared to 200 the year before, doing another project just now but i doubt it will be on the road before summer, mainly because of the clowns at dvla, anyhow the engine only needs a stator so i wont be pestering the clever guys on here(not much, just a little).

I have now fitted the main wiring loom to the px disc and she stars up no problem but still no lights !! the only thing i haven't connected is the brake pedal with the two wires not got around to that but all others connected any ideas what to look for now if there is a short somewhere like wires touching it will stop the light working and give a sh*t reading from stator, i had this problem when i fitted the loom on my p200e, turned out it was a sh*t main bulb holder that caused all the problems, do you have the top headset of? try it with it of so you can see connections, faulty horn can cause it to.

i was watching this engine lol, decent price, i dont think the case needs welded, mine was worse than that after i made an arse of splitting it, i used dirko gasket seal when i put cases back together.
Edit: just notice the bit broke off, i thought he ment were the case splits, my m8 has a 200 case broke at the same part, he ended up buying other cases without looking to much into getting it welded.
