tell you what there is not much rust on this frame considering its 24 year old, the floor was coated with black gloss paint so i expected it to be hiding something underneath but no, nothing but shiny metal.

in primer now, that is/ was the damaged side, its not perfect but its ok, choice of colour is giving me a headache, i was thinking a nice retro green metalic but the scooter won't look retro so it has put me off, i believe colours are for certain machines and that is why people get paid to mix colours for a certain design so i might just go with a vespa colour. idea's on colour are truly welcome.

My first thought was a dark green retro metallic then i read your post, bit of a coincidence. Mines is vespas metallic british racing green and i tried to make it look more retro with an old rover colour from late 40 - 50' called damask, .I did all badges, wheel rims and horncast in this.
I would love to have another scoot so i could have the same vespa british racing green and with either an really nice vintage orange wheels / badges or yellow would look good too i think ...maybe a mixture of race and retro Are you putting on a different seat or a cafe racer style? All the best

Took me almost 10 years to decide on a colour, Vauxhall and General Motors have a real good range. I'm going for a subtle flat yellow from the small Vauxhall range.

I'm going for a subtle flat yellow from the small Vauxhall range. i just came across old vespa paint codes for light met green from the 70's, my m8 works for a supplier so i will let him get in about it for me, i was gonna go silver for simplicity but im gonna go with colour i want, might need to change rubbers and other bits to suit, i have the frame ready to paint but cleaned the inside under the rear wheel tonight and it needs some attention so paint job might not be imminent.

This was all I could find. Found this on Scooterhelp.com. Probably the closest you can find without getting hold of the Vespa club. Im off to eat my dairylea Dunkers and Frubes yoghurt, out of my dinnertin... 😁
Vespa Paint Codes
Unfortunately the information out there only matches original colors to "Max Meyer" paint codes which don't exist (as far as I know) in the USA...but I figured I'd post them anyway. If you have a color you have used that has been a good match, let me know the manufacturer and code and I will add it to the specific model as a recommendation. Otherwise if Max Meyer paints are not available in your area click the image below for a spreadsheet from moden PPG Paints showing cross references for the correct color in today's PPG Paints.

Im off to eat my dairylea Dunkers and Frubes yoghurt, out of my dinnertin... 😁 Vespa Paint Codes thanks for that, im familiar with max meyer paints, i have a water base max meyer system in work for cars, my friend works for a company who deals direct with max meyer so he says he wil be on it monday morning, i also know a guy that works with ppg and they are part of the max meyer group, i have found the codes of 3 light green metalic colours, 2 from the 1940's and one from the picture i posted above(verde dalmuseo 6380) and the older ones are max meyer 6000m and 6002m this is the 6002 and this is the 6000m 6002 is darker

I prefer Matt finishes, think if it was mine, I would have done. But this is something else, I don't like shiny things..... Think I'll keep an eye on your build... 😀
