You’ll be lucky to find much PX specific stuff, but there’s plenty of P Range with little difference(s): There’s Haynes, obviously. Scooterhelp is excellent, for example, Engine Drop: www.scooterhelp.com/tips/engine/engine.drop.lf.vespa.htmlThen follow it through on subsequent pages – there’s loads. There’s a full strip and rebuild somewhere, but I can’t find it quickly – will post link later. Youtube: (Free, American) And generally accepted as by far the best source for Vespas is Scooter Techniques DVDs, by Suasage. On Ebay, or I got mine here: www.scooterproducts.com/catalog.php?category=DVD%20and%20VideoBetter start with the first one – ‘Running Maintenance’ if complete novice. They ain’t cheap, but they’ll save you a fortune. (I have a spare set if you’re interested). Too much to list really, but those are the best bits I’ve found, and spring to mind. I’ll add if I find links, if others don’t beat me to it.

This is the one I was looking for when I posted before: www.vespamaintenance.com/engine/teardown/It's probably more use to me than you right now, but it might be useful. Like you though, at some stage it has to all go back together!

This isn't really for you, hully, but I keep referring others to this list, so I'm adding these simple maintenance videos for anyone else reading.
They are four short American Youtube videos, that show you very basic maintenance on a LML Stella. PXs are very similar.

sime ya modest bugger ,you forgot to mention your own recent engine build thread ,i still reckon if the draughtsman gig gets boring or doesnt work out theres a job for ya at the "haynes book of lies" as a photographer, an hully ,i call it the book of lies coz its full off sentences like "you just undo the 4 bolts arrowed an the gidget comes off" ,in some alternative universe without seized/rusted bolts with rounded heads ,maybe ,but it is reliable for the tech info ya need to work on ya scoot an with sausages dvd was all sime needed +the forum to do his first engine build in the thread mentioned above ,an rather tidy looking it is too, H

Since deciding the best way forward was to do it all myself, I have learnt loads this year with the help of this forum and anything I could find elsewhere in books, videos and the Net, and it is all recorded here in several threads. It gets a bit heavy-reading with some of my blind alleys and wingeing when I’d sometimes got the hump though, and I’m not finished yet either.
At some stage I’ll tidy up these links above to online info, and tidy up links to my own painful learning experiences.
I’ll share the love, wherever it’s useful – you lot have helped me loads!

I’m stuck in waiting for Postie with bits for my weekend jobs, so there’s time to do this. After several disappointments with local mechanics, I decided it was time to do everything for myself. It means that I have done practically zero riding this year, but I’ve also tackled loads of jobs for the first time. I’ve had a huge amount of help from the experienced chaps on here too, so I’m going to list the jobs and links to them. Do realise they are not ‘how-to’ guides; they include my balls-ups, moaning, stupid questions, and the odd off-topic break for a giggle, but you might find something useful if tackling any of them for the first time. Here we go: Changing Stator and CDI, and doing timing:vespa.proboards.com/thread/3831/stator-overhaulEngine removal:vespa.proboards.com/thread/3899/headless-exhaust-swing-arm-bolt& vespa.proboards.com/thread/3910/engine-out-before-breakfastEngine back in:vespa.proboards.com/thread/3934/get-engineClutch Trouble – fault finding:vespa.proboards.com/thread/3986/clutch-gears-grey-oil& vespa.proboards.com/thread/3992/self-destructing-clutchEngine Strip and inspection:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4005/px150efl-engine-strip-inspection-repairEngine prep for rebuild:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4018/px150efl-engine-rebuild-preparationEngine rebuild:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4049/px150efl-engine-rebuild-slow-steadyClutch selection:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4001/cosa-clutch-150-engineClutch setting up:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4070/cosa-clutch-fine-adjustment(Currently tackling) Getting gear cables though body:vespa.proboards.com/thread/4105/pulling-gear-cables-body… Last year I did a lot of electrical work, including fitting a battery for some DC toys: vespa.proboards.com/thread/3476/motobatt-any-goodAnd re-did the wiring diagram for my scooter, whilst checking it and doing a few fixes: vespa.proboards.com/thread/3699/idle-hands-wet-weekend(that’s out-of-date now; I’ll post the new ones shortly………….. Last year there's also stripping and overhauling a 2nd hand carb: vespa.proboards.com/thread/3235/2nd-hand-si24-24eHope some of this helps some of the new tinkerers.

My wiring diagrams:Do note these are done for my use on my scooter (1983 non-battery PX150EFL, with battery added myself: and then with DC indicators and hazards added:I change them as I go, and won't necessarily update this page, so it's up to you if you use them............. (I've got buzzers now, because the LEDs were useless, but i'm going to talk to MOT guy in case I need warning light).

If the MOT man tells you that you need a warning light, tell him he's wrong: www.motuk.com/bike/1-5.asp#Menu_TopThe requirement is for a 'telltale'. There is no description of what this can be, so an audible one is sufficient.

I know what the official wording is. It doesn’t clarify whether a non-working light on the speedo is OK – even if replaced by buzzers, which I know are sufficient in themselves. I’d rather have a mature conversation with the perfectly amiable guy who’s going to do my MOT, so we can agree beforehand, than a dispute at the time; no benefit to me from making it difficult, I don’t need to be right, just want a piece of paper. This is off-topic now; the thread was for sharing links to info – maybe a new thread if it becomes important.

nics right about the telltale ,had this recently on a px that printed ribbon wiring was cracked ,tried a quick bodge the night before mot of a led connected to the buzzer wires an it was ok,tho the led for a main beam warning lamp kept burning out when engine revs, even with a resister in the circuit, could of lasted long enuff for mot but didnt want to chance it an re-wired the speedo with proper wires soldered to the bulb holders .an a bike i motted was giving me troubles with led indicaters an bulb telltales aswell,so had a long chat with my mot guy an read his ministry book, got round it on the bike coz if rider can see indicaters you dont need a telltale, only works for scoots if there bar end indies tho, h
