I got this 2nd hand. I’d like to use it because it is a Dell’orto, but I don’t know if it’s any good, or how to find out other than trying it out. I’ve opened it up, but not stripped and soaked it. It all looks present and correct, but there my knowledge ends. The float and needle seem in good nick, I cleaned the filter and bowl, all the gaskets I encountered were solid and not dried out. Jets all seem OK, It all moves smoothly. But it could be blocked or warped or any number of things I haven’t thought about. I do know it is: Main stack: 160 – BE3 – 116 Idle: 48.160 Choke: 60 Slide: 04 So do I · strip it, replace everything, and rebuild. · chuck it in and see. · chuck it away and buy a new one. I’m going to out get my hands dirty, so I’ll leave this to see if I get any bites….

It appears to have a black rubber tip to the float fuel shut-off needle. This was OK in days gone by, but with our newer unleaded fuel you need a RED TIP version!

Yup, apart from that no problems from here.
Couple of quid from Beedspeed or wherever for a new needle, job done. It'll not harm to change all the gaskets etc at the same time though.

This little job is going ahead then. I’m ordering all the gaskets, red-tip needle, filter and some over and undersized jets for setting-up and spares, and I’ll give this a go. My carb box and air filter the same for both aren’t they? (I do have a drilled filter).

Looks good to me..
Depends what carb box you have mate, physically it will fit fine, but the box opeining through to the engine casing may be slightly different (depending on what engine you are fitting it to), easiest if you take the box off the scoot and put the two together, you can then modify the opening if you need to, or leave if its about right..
Airfilter is same as 20/20

Thanks bryno, I was mainly thinking ahead about ordering everything I’m going to need before I start, so that’s good, but you’ve put me on to another consideration now. The outlet on my 24/24 Dellorto carb is round, the gaskets all seem to be flat oval now, and I’m not sure about the 20/20 carb already there, or the engine casing until I take the other carb off. This has been done loads of times before by experienced hands; do you just cut the gaskets and modify the box if necessary? My engine is a 1983 px150e Arcobaleno (VLX1M) by the way.

In short, yes.... If you feel the need.
As long as gaskets don't overlap the hole, you should be OK
