Hi Rab,
mine goes away around october if i am lucky as up here in the north east the weather is unpredictable and terrible most of the time. as i am also busy at work not getting as much use out of it as i would like, so was hoping to get it run in before it went away.

right think my decision is almost made just need to have final discussion with the mechanic and away we go. is there a minimum / maximum run in time as i am afraid i wont get it run in properly before the winter hits, 100 to 150 miles about right?

Guys once again this is all fantastic information which i can pass on to my proposed mechanic to do the job and see what he says on the matter, as most of it has gone over my head by quite a distance. Will need to get this sorted ASAP as the days are getting shorter and wetter as i want to get it run in before the worst of the weather gets here for the winter.

Cheers Rab,
may have been some crossed wires that £350 included the exhaust. but will still have a think about it.

see now you have thrown a new one in the mix with the DR which i have had differing reports on. The choice seems to be endless and confusing considering the budget i have. Hopefully will get a few more responses which will help sway me one way or the other as i know there will not be a definitive answer to one particular kit.

HI all, i have a decision to make this weekend regarding my standard PX 125 and getting a kit fitted. do i go with the Polini 177 or the malossi 166? exhaust is easy going to upgrade to a sip road 2 as been told this will compliment either kits. what do you member's recommend i have around £350 to spend? any thoughts tips much appreciated or if there are any threads on here which have all ready covered this please point me in the right direction.

Hi Nik, i take it that is the 177 kit? are these reliable as that is also very important as dont want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere!!! Also i have around £375 to spend at the moment, any idea on the cost of this without the up gearing?

Wow that has now thrown a spanner in the works have only had good reviews on the Malossi so far. the reason for fitting the kit is to give me better dual carriageway and incline performance as i carry a little more than my original birth weight!!! The left hand exhaust was only considered as i dont carry a spare wheel under the side panel and it looks a little bare. will now have to go back to the drawing board. Any ideas on the cost of the DR kit as have been quoted £300 - £350 for malossi, exhaust and fitting etc etc.

Hi I will turn up the idle speed and see how it goes if this cures the problem then hey ho but if not will have to look further. hoping to get a Malossi kit fitted and left side exhaust in the next week or so, so if there is an issue then hopefully i can get it sorted at the same time.

Just had bike MOT'd and since then it cuts out when idling. is there any reason why the MOT station would have lowered the tick over as i wasnt informed by them that they did this but has only started doing it since.

i have purchased the sausage DVD and as i am off work next week i will viewing this while the wife tidies around me and does the DIY. Also planning to get some paint on the side panels and front mudguard. so this week could either see me out and about on Scoot or surrounded by parts & paint!!!!

well i have decided that from now on all projects will be of the 2 wheeled kind, which i am sure will please the neighbours as the sight of a half dismantled Beetle on the drive i am sure would once again raise a few eyebrows with the wanna be snobby neighbours who have great pleasure in tutting every time they walked past, may just buy one and leave it there to annoy them!!
i now have my shed which to the wifes delight has taken up the majority of the garden and yes is spot on for room for scoot and to be able for me to shoe horn myself in and tinker.
spending spree is on the cards as i feel a major project brewing again will now be casting my eye over ebay for a bargain scoot to get my teeth into once i have finished putting mine right and added a bit more colour.

Hi Sime "doing things i never dreamt of" sounds like my wife!!!!!
you certainly have filled me with more confidence and i feel the 2 stroke clouds have somewhat lifted curing me of my phobia of f*****g things up and taking a bag of knackered bits to the local garage!!
already looking for a donor px200 engine to have a go at as my 125 is struggling to drag my ample frame around.

HI Sime,
I have been keeping up with this rebuild right from the start but have not commented as engines scare the life out of me and my knowledge is absolutely zero, however, bodywork is a different matter. It is absolutely brilliant the job you have done as a beginner and this has inspired me to to tinker with my own engine during the winter and fit a Polini kit to it, if only i understood the idea of porting and jetting it may not seem so daunting.
Once again congratulations on the rebuild and happy scootering from now on.

hi All,
have cured the leak on the engine it appeared to be a dodgy seal on the drain plug which was also a tad loose. however, this has not stopped oil from p*****g out all over the floor as it now seems that it is 2 stroke oil as my oil bottle which was almost full 2 weeks ago is now empty!!! as suggestions on where to check first on the system for the leak? all suggestions welcomed.
