hi all,
i have been looking for a cheep 200 engine for my px 125 for me to rebuild over the winter then install into my px, it just dawned on me and this may be a stupid question/idea, but, can i not put a 200 barrel, piston etc into my 125 lump?

If only it was that simple Sadly the stud spacing is different on the 125/150 to the 200 so the barrel won't fit. There are people who ally weld up the casings around where the barrel slides in, and retap the stud holes to suit the 200 barrel stud patten.. but it's a lot of messing around and i dont know how succesful it is. Personally I'd hold out for a P2 lump and not mess with 125 casings or do a kit... in the long run you'll get much more out of a 200 for the money IMO

as bryno says id go for the 200 lump rather than mess with the 125 lump it will work out cheaper in the long run and better . you will get a few hundred back in your pocket for the 125 lump if you sell it so the 200 lump will end up costing next to nothing. its something ive been thinking about doing this winter

Mate of mine ( Dox on here ) has got a 5 port LML 150 top end on a PX125 lump , pulls like a train and will cruise at 60mph no problem . I think the engine passed through Diablo Moto at some point but not sure if any work was done on it. He sold the original motovespa 125 engine for £250 Might be worth a think . Also , another mate has just bought a mint P200 engine for £470....to give some idea of costs

if ya keep the 125 lump ,as mickmidas said the easiest upgrade is a lml 5 port, be sure to get genuine lml as theres cheap copys out there ,an i dont know there quality . as others said the easiest is a p200 lump an about 3 hours to swap em,try n get the carb with engine as a 24/24 are priceyer as people want em as a "cheap" tune. it dont work tho jus sticking a bigger carb on ,wastes fuel an robs mid-range torque n throttle response.you could run it with ya 125 20/20 but it would restrict the engine an defeat the point of swap. or 1 of the simpler 160cc kits (like dr) an a sip road2 pipe ,with re-jetting n stuff about 250-300 quid , H

I have 2 x 200 motors for sale. One is plug and play, p200e all piaggio parts, approx 10,000 miles, fully functional.(I swapped this lump which was working perfectly, for a pinasco 225 lump). The other is stripped, cleaned, inspected and ready to assemble with choice of gearboxes (old or newer style) , new parts where required (seals, bearings any bolts etc) and comes with immaculate 1972/3 Rally 200 engine cases. Ideal to rebuild to your spec. Let mw know if interested.

if in south east i'm interested in a p200 lump or the rally cases , i was going to upgear the 150 engine in my blue1 as ive had to swap up to 10" wheels ,this could be easyier/quicker ,hully asked first so after him ,i'll think about his "leavings" ,but am guessing will be the rally's not the plug n play p200,ok by me as prefer to build me own ,more fun/shed time .
