Had to change the gear change bar as the clutch lever screw hole was ovaled. Changed the cables as well and now the selector doesn't line up with anything other than neutral Cables are tight with no slack Do they ever line up 100% in all gears ? I know the older selector box is a different design Neutral is OK 1st isn't too bad 2nd it starts to not line up 3rd 4th older selector box is different design to a P2 one, wonder if that makes any difference??

Hi, I'm getting to the stage where I need to think about electrics re my 1964 Sportique Douglas restoration. I'm probably going to buy a new horn, front and rear lights etc and recall that some people convert to 12V. Can anyone please give me some advice on this possibility. Is it wise to move away from originality? Does it make anything easier or better? Does the magneto need replacing if you do this conversion? Any advice/thoughts gratefully received. Many thanks...... Henri's right I'm just doing mine, the wiring loom fell apart when I started disconnecting everything Got a beedspeed loom plus one of their conversion kits www.beedspeed.com/vespa-electronic-supersprint-p-1675.html?osCsid=hk3u5ciaqjrpp5drcramifu3m0Decided to change all the cables after the outers started disintegrating, plus a few other bumps in the road so it's taking longer than i thought it would I'll post pics when the kits on Also decided to go LED at the same time Brake light bayonet type www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172277898860Tail light festoon type www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222151303484Headlight BA20D type www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201781551858Fitted on the bench

Back in 1990 I'd just come back from India and was riding my bright orange PX around Brighton. Pulled up next to a skin sparking his cutdown Lambretta. He started chatting away, but as soon as I took my helmet off and my shoulder length curly hair fell out he stopped. He took one look at my purple baggy trousers and tie-dyed t-shirt and walked off It's a funny old world

collect wing mirrors an get mistaken for a mod . H It's the Weller haircut, chops and Ben Sherman that'll do that (Henri doesn't look like a mod or a skin, he's no stereotype )

Now the temperature is bearable, I've started looking at the Sportique again. I've posted some photos and would be grateful if someone could please confirm I'm doing things correctly re the cables: I'm sort of up to the same point as you Just pulled the gear and clutch cables through I usually pull them through then force some 2 stroke down the outers with a syringe until it starts to seep out the end ( doesn't take a lot) Been having a nightmare soldering the wires into the terminals for the brake light switch and then the fixing holes for the switch are massive so I had to get some large self tappers

Hi Everyone I've got a PX 125 project on the go which I've got stuck with the electrics on. Is anyone in the Fulham/South West London area that could point me in the right direction to get it going again, as I seem to have ground to a halt. Cheers Phil <a href="http://s1152.photobucket.com/user/Phil_Retsas/media/IMG_2540_zpsoccb0qab.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1152.photobucket.com/albums/p487/Phil_Retsas/IMG_2540_zpsoccb0qab.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2540_zpsoccb0qab.jpg"/></a> You need to use the IMG code on photobucket to post pics not the HTML code

There was a vesbretta on fleabay, back in the day when u could buy a lambretta for a giro no one cared and everyone had garages full of old scoots, remember bining lds and a primmi cause mother wanted the garage tidy, couldnt give em away, bought me first gp125 for 150 quid and sprayed it purple. yuk. had worn gear selector that came off spindle if you went over a bump. diy mig welders wernt common or cheap, to the average kid cutting the rot out was best option. i dought too many people would hacksaw up a lambretta today. I swapped my old VHS video recorder for a cutdown '59 Li back in the late '80s (video recorder as worth about £100 at best)

I've just gone through retaining a reg for a '62 Sportique , last on the road in '65 with a buff logbook They rejected it at first but I'd sent some wrong paperwork Resubmitted it with photos of VIN plate and numberplate along with a dating letter from the British Lambretta Archive www.britishlambrettaarchive.co.uk/Everything came back with a new V5

I'd just order some correct length ones from beedspeed, saves fraying cables.

Too late bought it and semi fitted it. The original wiring loom fell apart so I've replaced that, but moving stuff about the control cable outers have perished too. So in the middle of connecting everything back up now I see what you're saying about modifying it to fit, but I was a bit apprehensive about spending £350+ on vespatronic I've got a VNB to do later so I'll see how it goes

Been there, done that Sime. Except it used to be my front garden. Got fed up with all the wasted space in my shed. It was originally a hardwood conservatory that some posh people used to keep their heated swimming pool in They did a poor description on ebay so I got it for £180. Took nearly a week of evenings to get it apart Then built it back up as a shed sitting on decking Sportique in bits

Here's my shed. Took ages to clear out all my old BMXs and Raleigh bombers ( got a 5 speed bomber and a MK1 Chopper left) Stuck some sheets of 8x4 ply up to form a massive shelf and a workbench ('60 VNB1T stuck under the bench) Got a PC with wi-fi and sub-woofer ( all from freecycle) for tunes and movies. It's all double glazed and insulated been warm and toasty for the last few days Sportique is currently in bits for new cables and loom I'll update the pic tomorrow
