I've just pulled a new beedspeed loom on my Sportique and it proved to be a right ballache, it only just about reaches everywhere, there's no slack left. I had to take the headset off to get better access, then all the cable outers had cracked with age and split. Clutch, gear, throttle, front brake and speedo all split Had to pull all new cables through the frame as well as the loom Rear conduit that holds the rear cables in was so tight, it took about 20 goes with some old 1mm twin and earth stripped back feeding backwards and forwards I think it's taken about 4 hours so far and nothings connected away yet, beedys sent the wrong speedo cable so I'm waiting on that I've skinned all my knuckles in the process good luck

Wait for the prices of Italian vespa parts to skyrocket. I saw Northern Ireland and Scotland voted remain in a majority, maybe Scotland will push for independence again (can't say I blame em) It's a dark day in British history

Looks like a good turn out with some old school customs. I drove through Brighton on Monday and saw the comedy mods on new LMLs with the chrome towel rails and Weller haircuts

I'd have gone for RIP4x4 ones at the bottom myself Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get the best you can I've got to get a tool from SIP because I can't find another to unscrew the castle nut to get to the rear hub bearing on my VNB It's £23 plus post and taxes and I doubt I'll ever use it again

I've just looked on allstyles and they list an on or off fuel tap for vespas with a fuel gauge, maybe that's whats in mine ? Think I'd rather have the option of reserve for piece of mind

The number should be below that VSX1T with a star stamped at each end like this one

Fuel tap only works in the reserve position, great fun with the dodgy LML fuel gauge. Scoot just cuts out in the on position Ran out this morning, luckily not too far from the petrol station. If I leave it overnight on reserve the exhaust fills up with fuel New fuel tap needed ?

Ah that explains it, I only knew of splooge

If you are talking about the black splatter around the kick start and gear cables from the exhaust, this in the 2 stroke world is called "splooge". Here is an article for American dirt bikes that spells it wrong but explains it well. www.chronicmx.com/dirt-bike-tip-reduce-stroke-spooge/So in summary, some very small amount is normal any more than very small means the jetting is too rich, usually the pilot jet I think you've got your spooge mixed up with your splooge urban dictionary's defiinition of splooge

I think the spare grey and red wires are redundant to me. I've traced the brown and it goes to the indicator controls. Should the front indicators have a separate black wire for earth or is this done off the chassis? But you're right h, once I get the engine back on I can then go through it better. Thanks Indicators normally have a short black wire that goes behind the nut of one of the mounting screws for the indicator body and earths itself off the frame

Could be for the indicator buzzer and l/r lights in the speedo ? I've got an '02 Vespa but I suspect it's a rebadged LML because of those features and the VIN starts with C5TD I recently replaced the speedo and the LML one was the only one with L/R indicator I could find in mph

What I like about your scooter is it's done to your personal tastes and you like it. I'm all for not conforming I went in to book my MOT yesterday and they asked what bike it was for. I said it's a Vespa and these two hairy bikers said "You can't ride a Vespa with a beard like that" I think everyone's got preconceived ideas what Vespa riders should look like and clothes to wear. I'm not a mod, I'm not a skin, I just like scooters I wear long shorts all year round, skating related t-shirts, Vans on my feet since 1979 (old skater), long goatee beard and sometimes long hair. When I get round to doing my Vespa, it'll be bare metal and ratty looking but I won't care what people think cos' it's mine
