Did you make sure the float and needle valve were not sticking and move up and down freely? incase it is not delivering enough fuel, also worth taking fuel pipe off carb and open petrol tap to make sure fuel flow from tank is good. hopefully something simple

Just a thought, after Brexit do you think we can ask Piaggio to make PX200`s for us as we won`t need to bother with all those European emission regulations any more or ABS and all that stuff? Thoughts please gentlemen.

Hey Ironsloth somewhere at the back of my music collection is a vinyl LP titled "kill em all" so today for me it is a pair of denims, a surf t shirt and globe trianers with a hoody on top which is a bit damp as it is p*shing down up here in Glasgow. I never was very cutting edge, or smart dressed! Which reminds me ironically I also have a vinyl record with a track called "smart dressed man" on it Take extra care in the rain guys, or wait till the sun comes out Ian

If i am stating the obvious then i appologise, but the engine number pre-fix should at least identify the cases. px125 engine pre-fix VNX 1 M px150 VLX 1 M px 200 VSE 1 M this info is from haynes manual and may help to identify what the engine was when it left the factory. Hope you manage to find a decent 200 at sensible money.

I am guessing it is just a supply and demand thing, also years ago there was always badly rusted or damaged scooters being broken for spares but as the value of a vespa has increased so much they always seem to get repaired now so fewer spare engines

It has got to be worth starting with a carb srtip and clean and check the float needle closes off and the jets are all the correct size and clean, clean air filter etc and go from there as it is not a big job and will only cost time. Ian ironsloth did make me laugh though, I mean who hasn`t done that at some point!

My polini kitted px 125 motor is not great at starting when warm and always starts after a bump start but it is because it is set a bit too rich

I think they will probably steal any 2 wheeler they can lay their thieving hands on and lets face it vespa px is not exactly difficult to hot wire! I thought most of the modern Piaggio scooters were key coded

obviously you won`t be able to remove every last drop of diesel but if you put in a fresh litre of petrol and then siphon it out also you should be pretty much clear of the old fuel. if you have a clear hose or length of pipe it means you can hopefully see the fuel getting closer to your mouth and put into bucket before you get a gob full!

You could drain and flush out tank using old fashioned siphon method with a tube and a bit of a suck, never tastes good but this is the way thieves use to steal other peoples fuel before locking caps, if you have not statrted engine it wont even be in carb.

Scooter centre ship to malaysia but it isn`t cheap so worth ordering a few bits at a time, it is shocking that lots of vespa parts for sale in Europe come from India or Vietnam but you are struggling to buy them over there. I recently bought some parts from Ho Chi Min city through fleabay, it was badges and rivets, they were cheap and post was also cheap but I know why as the holes didn`t line up with the holes in the legshield for the rivets! Anything I have bought from scooter centre has been decent quality and fit. www.scooter-center.com/content/delivery_outside_euIt may be easier to have a friend buy them in UK then post them to you

Back in the early 90`s when Mick Doohan raced moto GP his leg was too weak to operate the bike back brake so he had a thumb lever conversion done so he could use fingers on front brake and thumb on rear brake, obviously cost was not an object but you are not the first person to require this type of conversion. I use to do moto cross and had my butt kicked by a guy with one hand, and he had a left hand lever for a throttle, as moto x guys dont use the front brake much

I tell you what Guru you don`t miss much! I didn`t even notice helmet hook upside down but it was, now sorted, fork link cover now fitted and hub nut cover in chrome in the post, just used a px kickstart as it is px motor and wanted perfect fit on splines but you are correct the older style ones would look better. cheers Ian
