hi n welcome , as for oil , whichever one you can get a deal on buying in bulk .iron barrels i run on mineral oil ,a px is a iron barrel ,most use semi-synthetic of one brand or other ,i save that for ali barrels/tuned motors. dont use fully synthetic as in my opinion its wrong for a scooter , its meant for high bhp moto-crossers an doesnt suit a scooter . am afraid your 1st question is a age-old ongoing argument about which oils best ,an my opinion isnt liked by most but heres my argument . theres only 2 distillers/manufacturers of 2 stroke oil in europe , its all made to the same specs ,difference between brands is just slight different ratios of additives .so b&q or halfords will sell you mineral oil £8 or semi at £9 a litre , in a plain bottle ,a scooter shop will sell same oil in a bottle with scooter written on it at more money. an a bike shop will sell a bottle with a picture of a crosser on it for even more money .i want the oil ,not the writing or picture so you can guess were i buy my oil . garden centres ,builders merchants in the lawnmower section , tho it is worth keeping an eye on local large tesco's ,theve recently been having sales on decent oil at rockbottom prices .ya have to be quick as the shout goes out on social media an it dont last long .H

Just stripped my engine. Barrel bore clean as a whistle, piston clean as a whistle. ring gap still within spec. Being a tight Yorkshireman only ever used Morrisons 2 stroke 500ml £2. It's red like 2 stroke oil, it smells like 2 stroke oil, it works like 2 stoke, ergo. It's not super duper low ash or anything but super duper low ash oil didn't exist 50 years ago and Vespas seemed to manage ok

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. Just been for my first ride on it, was bit rusty, I haven't been on 2 wheels for a while. Soon got the hang of it though. 😊

Hi there, I started a thread called 'alternative oil' as I am using fully synth Silkolene and was advised that Rock Oil was better. After a huge amount of study I've stuck with the Silkolene purely because there is absolutely no reason to change as far as I can see. I would see what it's been run on until now and if that is ok then no point changing. Up to you though. Good luck with it.
