just the usual to start with, clean or replace the spark plug, screw the mixture screw all the way in then screw it out one and a half turns(this gets it on average to the right spot) take the carb cover off and check the lever on the carb is operating ok when you pull the choke on, and with mine i never open the throttle when starting, just choke n when it starts, choke off n give it a rev, worth a try oh and get a haynes manual too!

sae75w is as i remember for later modern gearboxes, alot of newer cars only use this type, i would stick with the 30s oil personally

theres a specialist lock company called keyfax 0161 339 7500. they do coded keys for all car types so may be of help if you ring em to see if they could help but as from experience with cars having the same system the above advice is spot on, the red key can roll the code stored to activate the scoots brains if it forgets the blue key

if you open the throttle all the way and let go it should "snap shut" if it returns slowly either the inner cable could do with a bit if oil down the sleeve or the lever on the carb is stiff so try a bit of wd40 on it and work it open and closed to try n free it off

is it no spark when it doesnt start? if so could be that the wiring has been disturbed, oil can perish wiring sleeves and short out a cluster of wires if theyre not insulated from each other properly.

you could start with a sito plus exhaust if you want it to stay standard looking, made a great improvement to the 125 i had.

lets face it if you look at the average age of alot of the "born again" or "old school" scooterist its early 40s. now, as a 42 year old myself in a physically demanding job i not only like, but need a degree of comfort when camping. so as im new to the scene i decided in for a penny last year and did the run to the shires on my own. laden down with tent, spare clothes, air bed, sleeping bag, wet proofs, etc etc, not a problem until i bought a nice sporty seat for my px210. now the rear rack wont fit and would look sh#te anyway so if i had a mate going in a car guess what! yep, all my gear would be in the boot! oh and one other point, as a newbee i have noticed that a good percentage of people are not fit too ride in the morn on the sunday due to the pop so i kinda think thats another reason some go as passengers in cars, that does make sense.

depends mate on ya nuts!!!!!!! flat washers and thin at that if your nuts have a blue/black nylon band in the top of the nut (nylock nuts) or if you have standard or domed nuts then fit stainless split washers. tends to help it stay attatched to the scoot!
