2nd & 3rd jumps when gear box is put under high load is as spence suggests a sign of a worn cruciform and possibly gears worn depending on amount of use you give it following the jumping. If the pin has dislodged in the base of your selector then this would affect all gears

i registered a recent spanish import, but fortunately had the vat number as they need to know that duty was paid. If you ain't got import papers or dealers vat no. on a receipt then forget the legitimate route and opt for the " in an old mans shed story" then you just need a dating certificate.
A number of spanish vespas are a problem to get a date certificate for as the original records can no longer be obtained by the vmsc, so check with them first.

Go into a motorbike shop and get some high temp liquid gasket. Did you tighten the head down in the recommended 1,4,2,3 pattern and use a torque guage to ensure you didn't over/under tighten.
if the head has been tightened down evenly and tight enough and you still get seapage then your head is warped. To rectify warped heads you will need a plate of thick glass and some honing paste to lap the head in.
Check the tightness of head first though and follow the :- 1 2
3 4 (1,4,2,3 tightening sequence first)

I know people will disagree with me but old scooter speedos are as accurate as blind darts players (no offence intended to anyone). My speedo gives up trying to move at anything beyond 50 and I know i'm doing more. 21 year old px, has it had new rings or a rebore ever. if it genuinely only does 50 then replace the tired top end with a nice shiney 166 malossi.

Bit of a strange one that. So you have just replaced an inner circlip and the hub is back on its splines nice and tight. All washers/ spacers back in place i hope ? scoot wasn't pulling to left prior to circlip replacement? why did you replace it ? Are the brakes more fierce since you replaced the circlip?.
My immediate thoughts were that there was something left out, or spring clip come off one of the shoes, ovalised brake drum, rim on the wrong way round (safro-caribbean) but without being there and seeing the scoot I'm just speculating
good luck

As the "schoolteacher" spence has given my anorak a mention, I'd go for 17 psi front and 23psi rear as pe my smallframe & p2 both used these pressures.
ps. langollen pics are good mate

Ideally you need to match the transfer ports (complete engine strip). On the base o your barrel you will see three tranfers windows. Now these should be bigger and differently shaped to those on the crankcase mouth and thery will need milling to get a perfect match to those on the barrel. www.scooterhelp.com/tuning/vespa.malossi210.porting.html the above link shows yuo whats need and you may find this site useful

Agree with your comments, but having been knocked off years ago and full face saved my life, so I'd be too paranoid to wear one - like the gimp mask idea.

Don't pay out for the crappy VHT exhaust paint and its extortionate prices - use Plastikote BBQ spray £5 a can and abolutely fantastic. exhausts get hot - but so do cast iron barbecues - this stuff is great

Yeah panel dimensions are the same but mk1 px's use external fixing clips at their fronts as opposed to later models having under the seat locking devices.

Assuming you have made no alterations to jetting or air screw (1.5 turns out from the closed position & can be accessed at rear of carb box by the shock absorber) . I assume his problem occurs at normal running temperature and persists every time you try to pull off in 1st gear.
Sounds like air being sucked in at the base of the carb as one solution, try tightening the two allen bolts that hold the carb down (in fact check all of the jets are tight while yo are there. Check the choke mechanism fully retracts. Look at your plug is engine running lean ?
does flat spot appear at any times ?
