I understand about changing the clutch but why will a standard scooter have a better top speed with the same clutch. I have spoken to a lot of other people who have a similar setup with the standard clutch and gearing who can reach 60-65mph

That's what mine feels like, it's got loads of power low down but even a bog standard 125 will do more than mine top speed, but they wouldn't even be close on acceleration ??

What things could be holding the top speed of my 125 2t back? (Dr177, polini 180 head, 24/24 carb, drilled filter, up jetted and a revolver exhaust) it's fine at low down and is really responsive on the throttle but it gets to 50mph and it sounds like if I pull the throttle back any more it's going to blow?

Could timing be anything to do with it? When I hit the scoot it was pinking quite badly, I found that the timing was set somewhere between the A and the IT mark (almost on the A mark) so I moved it to roughly on the IT mark and the pinking was gone but S.I.P suggest to run the DR177 kits at 19 degrees?

Gets to 50/55mph then that's all it's got, will almost sit at 50 but 55 is absolute screaming limit

My 125 with DR177 kit, sip road 2, polini 180 head and drilled filter (all jetted up to suit) will only do 55mph at and absolute push, I mean flat out. I've been trying to figure out why for ages. It runs fine and gets to 50mph fine. Any ideas?

Hi people I've finally got my scooter running and running well, but I'm a tinkerer 😀 So I was wondering, is my standard 20/20 carb up to the job of having the polini Venturi added to it? My current setup is: DR 177 kit with polini 180 head, sip road 2 exhaust, and drilled filter?

Just hit round to fitting the polini head on the DR kit and I must say it is actually pretty noticeable how much better it runs with it compared to the standard DR head, smoother acceleration, and a bit better top speed, although I'm sure this is purely down to the squish being about 1.3mm instead of about 3mm on the DR head

What's the difference between a polini 180 and a polini 177 or a dr 180 and a dr177? Are they the same as I want to put a polini 180 head on my dr177 kit

I ran an old px with dr177 kit and ported casings on a 20/17 carb for about 3 weeks, pretty much ran it in using it and was fine a plug was brown, but slightly lean in bottom end luckily my ride to work doesn't have many slow roads or stops

I'm pretty sure it's electrical now as I went out to the shed last night to have another tinker and bang fires up 2nd kick and rides through all the gears and pulls beautifully went on 10 minute ride, this morning it's playing up again

Hi, same engine, managed to get the 150 sorted then stripped the thread in the head (was almost stripped when I bought it) tried another head didn't work tried helicoiling the old head and it worked for a while then gave up so went to the dr177 kit ! 👍🏻

Hi guys, I've just fitted a DR177 kit to my 125 it has sip road 2 exhaust, si20/20 carb, standard air filter, I've tried various jets but it just seems to either splutter backfire and die or run badly I've set one of these kits up before and I've tried the exact same jetting and much more but I cannot seem to get it to run right any suggestions would be much appreciated 🙏🏻

Would this point to over fuelling? Hence why when it's left for 10 mins it's hard to start again? Maybe float valve letting fuel through when it's standing

Plug is kicking out a blue spark, when it's hot it starts first or second kick unless it's left for 10 minutes then I have the same issues

I'm having issues starting the scoot it's a 125 with 150 top end and sip road 2 exhaust, got spark got fuel got compression, when it does eventually start it runs flawlessly...... Oh forgot to mention it will bump pretty easily

😂😂 "primal all suck" how the hell did my phone get that from "probably all sick" any way yes it does sounds like marbles (more like stones) rattling in a tin I think it is pinking to be honest, I changed the atomiser earlier from an E3 to a BE3 and went up to 116 main jet and the noise has almost gone but still very slightly there, I'm running a 150 5 port top end, chrome sip road 2, 20/20 carb, 38-120 idle, 160 air corrector, BE3 atomiser (was E3), 116 main jet (was 108) and..............wait for it...... The dreaded polini Venturi system 😂

Me again... I know your primal all suck off me by now but here goes another, I've sorted most of my issues out on the scoot no but I still have this awful rattle coming from the engine (99% sure) when I'm doing about 35mph in 4th and try to accelerate and when I'm holding it almost flat out in 4th, so it seems to only do it when the engine is under load.... Just want this bloody fixed so I can ride and enjoy it

It's doing my head in, this is my 3rd scooter and I have successfully kitted and jetted the last 2 with little to no issues but this one is in a world of its own lol and the only common denominator is this fecking polini Venturi, I'm nearly at the point of binning it off and putting a standard filter and bellow on, but I'm no defeatist 😩😂

I'm now on top of all my other issues all of a sudden having trouble starting my scooter, I checked spark and it's looking a bit weak and an orangey colour what does this mean or how do I fix it?
