What things could be holding the top speed of my 125 2t back? (Dr177, polini 180 head, 24/24 carb, drilled filter, up jetted and a revolver exhaust) it's fine at low down and is really responsive on the throttle but it gets to 50mph and it sounds like if I pull the throttle back any more it's going to blow?

The biological matter piloting it.....
On a serious note, is there a dyno near you? Sounds like you have all the gear on it, it just needs a mechanical aid.

Setting up properly on a rolling road/dyno, whereabouts are you in the country? There's a scoot rolling road up from where I live in Lincolnshire.

I am also using a polini kitted px125 motor with a 24/24 carb and ported cases, but use a standard exhaust, it also is quick and pulls like a train and is very revvy but due to the gearing I need to fit a higher gear ratio clutch just to make it a bit less noisey, drop the revs and make it better at cruising, so it is probably gearing that is holding it back, my motor is fairly torquey so I hardly ever use first gear as it is such a low ratio, I am not looking for high speed so have not got round to changing the clutch yet but will do it at some point.

That's what mine feels like, it's got loads of power low down but even a bog standard 125 will do more than mine top speed, but they wouldn't even be close on acceleration ??

I understand about changing the clutch but why will a standard scooter have a better top speed with the same clutch. I have spoken to a lot of other people who have a similar setup with the standard clutch and gearing who can reach 60-65mph

It should have a quicker top speed than a standard 125 as yours should rev higher, are you using a restricted cdi? The later catalyst px motors have a cdi that limits their revs, but it should still be able to match a standard px125 for top speed. It would be easier if you could measure your RPM at max speed, and also perhaps use a gps to find out what your max speed actually is
