Hi chaps happy new year to all. Just wondering what I would gain from changing my 20 tooth clutch to a new cosa 22 tooth clutch. I am running scoot on a dr180 kit with Sito plus exhaust.

I doubt it would pull it. Go to 21. Slightly slower acceleration, slightly greater top end. (approx 5%) and it won't be feeling like it's screaming everywhere in top. I'd anticipate going from an honest 55 to an honest 60/62

Cheers Nik will give that some thought. At the moment gets to 40-45 like S*** off a shovel but not quite run in yet to see what I get top end.

Hi, I'm running 22 tooth clutch on a DR 180 set up and have no problems at all with the setup. I only use 2nd gear on pulling off and have plenty of revs and guts to get me up the steepest of hill's and give's me a nice top end.
As Sime66 said it really does stop the revving out at top end and give more top end when you up gear the clutch gear
I asked the same question on here quite a number of months ago and most people told me to go for the 21 tooth but I went against there judgment and brought a 22 and works very well. I'd suggest doing more research before committing to buy.

You should definitely lose the 20-tooth, but I have not yet been tempted by a 22-tooth clutch; I took Nik’s advice when I asked the same question many months ago and am happy with my 21T. The only revving-out top-end I recall mentioning recently was when trying MicroDyno – which was in 3rd gear, and was intentional for the tests (78kmh, approx 7000rpm in 3rd). I favour the decent acceleration, of a 21, rather than a few kmh top-end and potential low-end/hill climbing sluggishness of a 22. It probably comes down to personal preference, your weight/luggage, and your roads/normal use. I might try a 22 in the future, although I don’t expect to prefer it around the hills and lanes here, but I’d be interested to see what you think if you try it. I am aware of FPB's results with 22; FPB has a SR(2?) pipe, as I do, but he also has some extra carb malarkey – when it’s all in one piece , you have a Sito+ (you haven't given your full set-up in this thread), so we’re not comparing like-for-like either. - Mine's slow and steady; gets me there and back, all day, every day - a couple of minutes off my journey from a couple of kmh top-end don't matter a damn to me. HNY all BTW.

Hi guys, one of the lads in our scooter club recommended the 22 tooth which he has on his stock t5 which is an absolute flying machine. Will do some more research and let you all know my findings. Running mine on standard carb and 112 main jet!!

Is there a way of telling what revs I am doing without a rev counter or can you fit a speedo with rev counter to a non battery PX.

Well, I too think the best compromise is the 21. You get good acceleration plus that bit more top end. A 22 after running a 20 can seem a bit, well, slower in acceleration but lots of different factors involved too like weight of the pilot and simple stuff like brake drag etc etc. It's your money...................but you did ask!!!!

Cheers Kru think one of the lads has a spare 21 tooth clutch will slap that in a give it a go first I think. Will defo get a rev counter first as that will give a good indication where to start.

Don't forget the T5 puts out a sh*t load more power than a DR180 to start with

That is true Nik. Will try the 21 tooth first and see how it performs.

suck it n see if ya like it , thats what the ice cream guy outside my skool use to say , well before they locked his ass up, if ya mates got a 21 tooth clutch sat around reckon ya plan of trying that first is sound , it all depends on whats been done to ya lump wether it will pull a 22 , the 21 is a good compromise an more likely to work with your set up , kosa do a tacho for bout 45 quid ,demontweeks.com is where i got my last 1 from , tho it will need a 12v dc supply an the "destructions" dont translate from korean very well, to fit a battery is just swappin ya 3 pin reg box for a 5 pin 1 an a inline fuse an a place for the battery ,oh an a place for the tacho dial, H
