Had an issue with it cutting out after about 4 miles,never been entirely happy with the tap when I fitted it so fitted a new one and seems flow alot quicker,what percentage would you recommend?i thought 3% because I've still got to run it in on a malossi 166 kit

Just an update on events,engine all bolted in,changed the fuel tap the old 1 was right dodgey the fuel wasnt flowing out when turned on so had 2 tip it upside down 2 empty it,removed oil tank and capped off pipe to autolube,going go to full premix at 3% see how it runs,all I need do is add fuel and take it 4a run,orderd a new cdi so that will be the next step if it cuts out,any advice folks?cheers

Got it running again,just need set everything up again and bolt everything down,thank god it runs and now set it up right, thanks folks for all the excellent advice especially H ur a star nice 1 bruv

I don't no what to say myself????going strip it again and rectify it next week,think it was a moment of madness thinking of another problem that needs sorting,I'll get there in the end but I am enjoying messing with it, trial and error and gaining more knowledge everyday,nice 1 fellas

I thought as much I don't believe it!!!yeh got it start with a gud bump start was rough as fuk I can tell you,going strip it again and change everything this time and go to full Pre mix,trial and error job on this one but we will be up and running again, what do you think regarding the fuel?not happy with the flow at all, would of thought it would come out quite rapid??nice 1 H

Just a question about the piston,have I put it back on in the right direction? On the malossi kit 1 side is smooth the other has 2 ports should these match up with the exhaust port on the barrel? I've cleaned the piston and done a bit of work on the cylinder,if I get time this week I'm going put it back together and fingers crossed it runs ok, lessons very much learnt from this and knowledge gained,thanks for all the advice and tips folks and she will be back on the road soon,nice 1

It had seized,stripped it down today,the bore aint too bad but the piston is rough going see if I can clean it up at work tonight,at least one thing the rings are still intact,going see if I can salvage the kit,looks like the gasket had split,solved the original leak from the pipe which must of made the gasket worse

It's a right strange one this, think I'm going get a new cdi on it and fuel tap then strip the head have a look make sure everything's ok,replace oil pump gasket then start again see wot happens

Also it only dies when in 4th gear at 1/4 throttle pottering doing about 40mph

Still got a feeling the fuel tap is knackerd so going replace that,lost a hell of alot of power and was unresponsive it just wanna running right,would the engine still run if it seized?

Here's one for you folks,what are the symptoms of a seizure? Been having issues doing about 4 miles then the engine dies, leave it a minute then kicks in. Checked connections and cleaned breather to tank and took it out again today, same again did about 4 miles then started die I could tell by loosing power,dipped the clutch put it in 3rd then let it go then ran ok then it started die again after a few yards,stopped left it 4a few mins it did'nt want kick in but was turning over,managed get it start then off I went trying get home then after say about a mile it started again so I started dip the clutch when I could feel it loosing power and limped home,feels like I've lost alot of power and it looks like the gasket to the oil pump is shot (2 stroke everywhere) any ideas folks??cheers

No I haven't changed the seat or put a seat cover on but does seen a touch of a logical explanation because its the 1st time I've filled the tank to the top and really made sure the cap was down tight,going check the breather also all the cdi connections and take it for a run on Sunday (weather permitting) see if it happens again.

Now here's 1 to throw into the mix, got chatting to my m8 who knows a touch about scooters says it could be an airlock in my tank and he might be onto summat because before I went out I did fill right up,going check it out l8r

Only did a couple of mile after it died and was fine,no misfiring or anything, going check the wiring/connections from cdi because I have replaced some off the old wiring, my 1st thought was a heat seizure because I have had a small oil leak from the oil pipe (which I hopefully rectified before I went out). Not entirely happy with the new tap so going order a good make, sip or bgm. Maybe the engine needs time settle in after all the work that's been done on it, I'll take it for another run see what happens, the engine itself runs smooth plenty of power uphill etc was really impressed with the performance until it just died, only adjustments made were to the mixture because was running rich, could be a x-file moment???

It just proper died no spluttering or anything just as if you turned the ignition off while still riding, it kicked litterally straight back in give it a minute or so,only taken it to 40mph no faster and nice and steady, I do have a gut feeling about the fuel tap the old saying buy cheap buy twice and it's not a known make ie sip or bgm,will have to take it for another run to gain more knowledge of the problem, my 1st thought it was a heat seizure but it ran ok afterwards? I'll keep you updated after the next test run

Took my scooter out for the 1st bit of a run today,did about 4 miles then it just cut out, left it a minute then tried start it it kicked straight in? Got to my destination and stopped for 30 mins then set off again then after about the same miles cut out again then tried start it again it kicked straight in??ive just gave it a full engine rebuild with a malossi 166 kit on,drilled air filter,expansion pipe,upjetted carb,21 tooth clutch and fast flow tap. Runs nice no bogging etc just dies after a few miles but restarts fine? Any ideas folks? Cheers
