If you mean a 2 stroke vespa then yes it can be made to go faster easily, if you mean a 4 stroke vespa GTS etc then it is a lot more difficult and expensive to make it faster but still plenty of bolt on racks etc

Your scooter might be auto lube so it mixes the oil and petrol for you, you will know if it has the sight glass below the petrol tap lever in which case use a good quality 2 stroke oil in the separate tank under the seat, as long as the pump is still connected, or use 2% pre mix in the petrol tank.

They had better not do away with my cloud of lovely smelling blue smoke! Is it that cloud of blue smoke that put the nail in the coffin of 2 stroke?
probably was as with "total loss lubrication" the clue is in the title.
I still like 2 stroke.

I am not really a fan of the previous models as the 125 is really quite slow for this age and it is difficult to make it faster, I have no idea why they chose such a slow engine when a vespa GTS 125 actually goes quite well for a 125 four stroke, this however has a decent engine and a decent amount of go so i like it, the only negative point I can make is that it is quite a lot of money for a bike that is not European or Japanese.

From my perspective, if it is for a bit of fun on sunny days the original 6v lights will probably be enough, if going out at night they will be shockingly poor compared to what other road users have. It is common to do the 10 inch wheel upgrade when changing to a px motor as it will already have a 10 inch wheel, if you are not going to do this then it is quite a lot of work, unless you just buy the 10 inch rims that fit onto a 8 inch hub, they will probably make it a bit more stable over pot holes etc, they do look a bit odd though, same question again is the scooter for a bit of fun on a sunny day or maybe for travelling a bit further. That is my take on your situation anyway

That is serious power for a vespa frame that was only designed to take around 10hp on a good day, looks amazing.

If you were to take a tatty old large frame scooter to a shop/dealer and ask them to do a full bare metal resto and engine rebuild to customer spec you would spend that sort of money, so although expensive it is realistic, but most people I know into scooters want to do some of the work themselves and therefore can save a lot of money and have the enjoyment of hands on effort and the final result is the fruits of your labour. If however you are feeling wealthy and just want to buy something that looks good and has reliability of a new vehicle, this may well be the one for you. Not me however. Also I have a Vespa GL that I think looks better as the lines are smoother and I think any Vespa looks better without indicators. Just my opinion.

My cases are ported to match the larger than standard ports on my polini cylinder, if you compare standard and kitted cylinder you will see the difference in openings, also look at standard piston and one from kitted motor and see the difference. Mij can probably give you a better explanantion, this was a motor I bought like this and it is fairly quick so I like it, I upped the gearing to make it more relaxed at cruising.

I don`t know anyone who admits to fitting a big bore kit, where do you live? and are they going to check the engine internals? I think it will be ok to fit standard parts to your cases, just make sure the base gasket covers all ports or you may need to use a base gasket for a kitted motor to have a seal, the standard base gasket is smaller than that for a kitted motor, but like Ironsloth says if it seems in good order I would keep the kit on, fairly sure your carb will have been jetted to suit the kit also.

You may already of tried this but if you can cover the air intake almost completely with your hand while kicking over it will have the same effect as a choke, by putting your hand over it when kicking it over you will feel the suction from the engine and by restricting the air flow it draws more fuel in, a very basic way to mimic a choke circuit, but if plug comes out wet it sounds like too rich. Keep us posted if you have any tips from the other forum.

A good starting point has to be headset top off and check wires for broken or damaged insulation, and check switch at the same time.

Anything dodgy like that and just video it on your phone if you can and then you can prove your side of the story, but who needs that sort of grief in their life. Take care mate.
