I will certainly be here and I promise to buy a ticket in advance and also book a B&B for the weekend so I can join in the merriment properly. I've just bought my old lady a ET2 for £300, just need to paint it pink , knock the dents out , re-register it in the island (it's from Guernsey so never seen a test of any sort) and it's all systems go. As for the losses on the IOW, never mind, the craic was well worth it.

My missus is on my back now, thanks a lot Alps, a world record which she was part of and no details? She was too busy taking pictures of the dog in a sidecar to be a good passenger (keep bloody still woman). How many and for how far? The atmos was brill and the weather bloody marvellous. The ride out was ok but I would like to know what the filth were there for, not our benefit for sure and just added to the confusion. I liked the rugby club and the burgers were a reasonable price as well. Didn't try the ice-cream as I didn't want a brain freeze in that heat. Some lovely bikes and wonderful outfits, why were there so many pink scooters? Just a last word, to the oxygen thief that broke into my bike on Saturday night and stole my waterproof trousers and gloves and some tools, have they dried out from the cat p*shing on them on Thursday? The other lads that were robbed in Newtown, hope you didn't lose too much and appreciate my old lady's idea of leaving the police number on a post -it wasn't a p*sh take, more an attempt at helping out.

I'm going this year, in my van unfortunately because I have to do a round robin of my family in the Brighton area first and my baby's 21st birthday. Good news is I can get 2 scooters in it, so I'll see you on the ride out and generally out and about. I'm the cutdown T5 with 'R' plates on.

That Hemmings bloke lives about three miles away from me, shall I pay him a visit and ask him? Pontins does say , on page 104 of Scootering, that 'FROM THE JAM' aren't playing. Best ring the organisers.

I did one, some years ago, on a cutdown with a DR kit fitted, the instructor was impressed with my stoppy for emergency stop.

First thing is paying the VAT, = £245 Next MOT, don't know what that will be in England, maybe £60? Cost of picking up from the docks, probably £100 or borrow a van. You can't ride it even if it works. Serial numbers aren't the same on engine and frame, because one's an engine, the other a frame, if they match I would be suspicious, I could be wrong, just form experience. An LML engine is an Indian built Vespa, good engines but which gearbox you get is a bit of a lottery, I got a PX150 box with a 125. But it has 5 ports, like a t5. (now a 180) I will probably get corrected on some of these points, we'll see.

At the time it was the back entry to 'Choys Chinese Restaurant' now it's the back of 'Mama somethings cajun joint', as seen on Ramsey's kitchen Nightmares.

I was returning from cub camp at small dole in Sussex, we were on a red double decker and saw a scooter gang coming towards us up the road. Looked ever so cool. I must have been about 9 or 10, so 64/65

I know it's unlikely that this will effect many people here, but for what it's worth; If anyone is thinking of getting a scoot from Guernsey, beware the hidden costs. Not only will you need a new MOT, you will need a type approval and customs clearance after you've paid the VAT on the book value of the bike and not what you paid for it. I imported a Vespa to IOM and so far it has cost me over £150 for a £300 ET2. Mind you, road tax is only £5 and it'll never need another MOT.

So, a claim for a stolen PX125 and subsequent re-insuring and registration of a PX125 all by someone with your birthdate. Must happen all the time in your area. I'd own up if I were you, not only invalidates insurance but also fraud as a possible charge. Insurance companies do surf these sites. Be careful.

Mines grey and covered in dead bugs. Arai rings a bell. The front lifts up as well. Wouldn't wear my open face (red/white with a stripe or two ) on anything that will do above 30, except in exceptionally hot weather and only to the shop.

Well done you. Lucky you don't live here, you'd have to stick bleeding 'R' plates over the top for a year. What's an A2 licence? as opposed to A1or A?

My first scooter is definitely no longer around, at least not to be seen. It is underneath Shoreham bypass in Sussex. It was a LD 150 with no running boards or panels of any sort, the throttle was by way of a piece of string tied to the carb and it only had a back tyre. The building was cut into the chalk cliffs and when wet was an icerink. We played there as kids and I found this bike in the bushes one day and I claimed it. A gallon of petrol later it was flying all over the place with me on it. that's how I learned to ride a motor bike and have stayed with hand gears ever since. Eventually it was dropped too many times to ever work again. 1964/5 and I was 10, that was the days when a gang of 10 yr olds could play all day without interference form adults on a building site. Happy days. The last one before college was a GT 200 in 1979 at Brighton rally on the Marine Drive, painted. by hand, with a mural of 'Trojan Horses' on both panels. Lost the photos in the mist of time, anyone got any of that rally? Next 'firsty' was in 2001.an Italian import for £500 , the (ex) missus went mad when I unloaded it off the truck via a HIAB, I hadn't told her. LI S3 125/175. MCH 832D, sold in 2003 just before I moved to IOM to a mate for £750.

Well done mate. I don't know the difference between the two as a pass here is a pass, full stop, straight off a LML onto a Harley. Just need 'R' plates for a year. You passed in England so our restrictions don't apply to you here. Jammy git. As for the point about no lessons, nice one, but not for everyone.

Bloody good looking for a 65. Hard to believe it's not been restored before, been kept in a garage all it's life? Get it to 12v, so much more reliable than 6v and sort out the brakes, nice find.

OBSERVATIONS OBSERVATIONS. If you don't make it bloody obvious you are looking all round you stand a good chance of failing, basically you should have a stiff neck after an hours riding to start with. Also, don't speed but keep to the speed limits, riding too slow will fail you as well. (failing to make progress)

I had two lessons and passed first time, but I have been riding scooters since 1970! Take no notice of the greasers, they don't take us seriously, why should we take them seriously?

Congrats, the easy part is over now for the fun. Really though it can be daunting especially if you are advancing in years, chill out and it will be OK, just ride for yourself and enjoy. I won't bore you with how easy it is on the island, WTF is hazard perception, we call them motorbikes over here. You can pass your test on a Honda 50 here!
