Hi Ryan, welcome to the forum. Do you know David O'Hare ?. He runs the scooter club in Belfast. Met him last year at Euro Lambretta in Germany, he's a really nice guy. You can contact him via e-mail at : davidohare@trocaire.ie

Sorry your not going this year Spence, I was looking forward to meeting you. Last year was chaos with no Police escort. I went on my GTS, otherwise my Lambretta would have burnt the clutch out with stop/starting.

It's hardly fair to compare a modern scooter against a classic. Walk past a GTS compared to a modern scooter in 40 years time, and people will look at the GTS and smile and say " They were real metal scooters, not like the plastic throw away rubbish you get now " As Retrogirl says, you use the modern bike for your daily commute, and the classic for your leisure time enjoyment.

I love my Lambretta, because I built it from scratch, and so it gives me a big kick riding it, but equally I get a different kick from riding my GTS. It makes my Lammy feel small, slow and agricultural. I think it's the future, and there's even talk of a 300cc version coming out soon ( see the latest edition of Scootering ). If you told me that I'd own a Vespa, I'd say you were mad. If you told me I'd own an auto Vespa, I'd say you were doubly mad. How wrong can you be ?

I've got a GTS, and it's the dogs danglies. I'm a Lambretta man through and through and I've never considered a Vespa.I bought it to use while I was restoring my Lammy, but I would'nt part with it now. Everyone who test rides one ends up buying it. There's also a great website for GTS owners.

Oh dear me ! A long time ago, I sold my scoot and got a car. It was announced that the bike test fee was going up from 30 shillings ( £1.50 ) to £3.25, so I applied for my test in case I ever got another bike/scoot. Put my mates Li series 3 back together the night before in his mum's kitchen using a Cornflakes box to make gaskets. My mate put throttle cable in wrong, and it revved up when you turned the handlebars. Still passed the test though. Happy days !!

my Lambretta accelerates from 20 mph to 60 mph in two seconds. It says this on the speedo, so it must be true

Been there, done that, it hurts does'nt it ?. Your normally more concerned about damage to scoot. Good luck with your claim, and get well soon. Best wishes.

I went to the army and navy stores, and asked if they had any camouflage trousers. The man said " yes, we have plenty but we can't find them ! "

I built a Lambretta last May, using a Spanish frame. Got authentication letter off Lambretta Club, insurance and m.o.t on frame number, and went to Chester DVLA office with these and V55. Dressed smart, and acted soft ( not hard ! ), and walked out with reg number and tax disc. Did not fill in or need tax forms or import papers. I think if you look dubious, they may ask to see scoot. Get there early, it gets busy.

I love riding my GTS because it's so smooth and responsive, but nothing gives you bigger kick than riding a scoot that you've renovated,or built from scratch yourself. In my case that was a Lambretta.
