This is happening way too often for my liking, I'm agreeing with mij. What's the point in swapping a good working engine, for a lump with the same cc, but that's also unknown?? Build it up as a spare, just in case owt goes wrong. If it was a Rally 180 to match your frame, that would be different. But with it being another 200cc, just build it up and enjoy your scoot when there are good weather days, instead of stripping it and regretting it.

Went to this show last year, was well worth going. This year, they seem to be recognising custom scoots as well. Take a look at the link:- www.kustomkultureblastoff.com/I'll be going, but I don't think I'll have a scoot there.... 😐

You don't hear about many people polishing their Lancia Beta do you.... The reason why the Fiat 500 had a canvas roof was so they kept the steel usage down! Love it....

I am literally about 10/15 minutes from there, it's a fairly big place... they have their own burgervan! But have to agree with you there, and I'm only 33! My knees and arms are about buggered because I genuinely was delivering bags of coal from the age of 8/9 until about 13... (drivers mate then...) 😳

My old man. I knew nothing about scoots when I bought my iron sloth, I was told to get a parka and big fox tail whippy aerial.... Well I knew no better, so I spent £50 on the worst jacket I have ever worn (was a 1950s fishtail too) and buggered off for a spin. The dam thing tried to open up like a sodding parachute, was absolutely horrible... Never did get the aerial... 😅

Actually (just remembered...) you don't have to change your carb, just re jet your standard one, that's what mine runs.

At a guess a normal 24mm should do (isn't this a standard T5 one?) but I would advise putting oil into your petrol as well as using an autolube system. I do not trust autolube scoots, but if you keep on top of it, it should be fine. On mine, I have a Polini 180, but I do not use the autolube on it as it seized up on me a number of times while running a modified standard 125cc unit.

When I first got mine, I was made to get a parka too. Wore it once and regretted it... Jesus flaming Christ.... got a cutoff denim jacket over the top of my scoot jacket now...

Engine out first. I found out that an old style plastic beer crate under the floor kept the scoot stable and kept it off the stand.

Course, a mate of mine could only 3/4 fill his, served him right having a T5 152 Polini... the ponce... 😆 They do look good though, I bought one to fit to the iron sloth, was going to fit it and leave the centre stand on, but decided against it in the end. Didn't see the point of two stands on it to be honest. Was the same time I bought a Buzzetti folding kickstart too, fitted that f**king thing didn't I..... 😐

Very very nice, do like that... By the way mij, you're an arse, I picked up a cheap VBB frame and was going to 'add' it to the Reliant trike, my mates have been at me to make it into something else (a little similar to this, but not as posh and nice, got to admit...), you're officially a scotch git.... 😆 But to be honest, I bought the VBB thinking it was a Douglas Rod, or 152L2, with it being a bare shell and me not knowing too much about the older scoots (or owt for that matter...) I bought it real cheap. Would love a Douglas Rod.... but my dear ol mum reckons I only want one because I share it's name... Not frigging Rod either... 😁

Ooooh, a dragster...... would be nice, but I don't think I could live with myself owning one... I'm still trying to get over owning a 4 stroke machine, let alone anything from 'the Darkside'....😆

The mark 1 Escort is technically not the first to take the Escort name. It was a 100E which looks like a van, but was all windows, there was the Anglia, the Squire, the Thames 300E, the Prefect, and the Escort. Anyway.... But I do agree with the whole radical model change and no new name, reckon it's why I went Vespa all those years ago.

Would rather sh*t in my hands and clap than run a electric powered Tupperware box... I hate this as what happens if you go blind?? At least you can hear a Vespa running a standard exhaust... Loud pipes save lives, and I'm all for bursting eardrums too... 😆

I'll have you know Mij that my Russian IZH has got to be my best kept machine at the moment, the Russians tend to have two build qualities, like a tank and like a turd. My IZH is tanklike.... 😁 The worst one is the Harley/Cagiva, but then we're back on that 'not built for this climate'... Total b*ll*cks. You buy it, you use it, you abuse it, it wears. Build, ride, improve, repeat.
