Looks too rich to me, try the 105 Ta, I think you're right, I'm gonna up Pilot jet tomorrow to see if I can smooth bottom end. Going for the SIP Zen of 2.8 55/160 tomorrow from ,https://g.co/kgs/f61B7r they are a Scooter Emporium in Sarf East London, I will fit it before my ride home and adjust fuel screw when warmed up.

I put the 106 in and it did feel a little better, not quite a plug chop due to time constraints but this is the plug 10 miles urban riding with a cheeky 50 mph on short dual carriageway then I took it out when I got home.

I managed to get a mate to pick up 3 main jets from a scooter shop in SE16 that is an Aladins cave while I'm at work today.
102 105 106
Will start with the 106 before my commute home tonight and see how that goes.

I would say that's a comprehensive test and plug chop. In my opinion that is running dangerously lean, the little silver pimples are bits of melted piston! This usually means at least 2 jet sizes under. I would fit a 105 main jet and try the plug chop again. The SI carbs start pulling on the main jet from just under 1/4 throttle, or even less if the throttle is lower but revs are high to increase the suction. Increasing the main jet could fix all of the issues at once. Thanks PXguru.... will adjust & report back.

Well Sunday's ride went well, I fitted a new NGK BH7S plug then rode around 40 minutes urban traffic then 10 miles WOT on dual carriageway before plug chop. Engine pulls really smoothly and consistently from 1st to 4 when on 1/2 TO full throttle. I performed a plug chop and this is the result. Probably too early to tell correct colour as only done around 50 miles on new plug. I also set the fuel mix screw as best I could. It was a pain but managed it with 7mm spanner by firstly turning idle screw down to slow then turning idle screw each way until I heard it running faster then opening throttle and repeating. My only grumble was the low end riding at 1/4-1/2 throttle feels a little ropey & sounds to my mutton ears with hearing aids to be bubbly, does that mean too lean or too rich in the pilot circuit? Do I need to up the pilot again or even lower it? Once I open to half throttle it pulls and sounds lovely. I tried a 48 pilot jet yesterday which helped a bit but still sounds & pulls same < 1/2 throttle. The video is taken yesterday after installing 48 pilot & riding for afternoon & readjusting fuel mixture & I think I've set the idle too fast.. Current set up: Main 100 Pilot 48 Air Filter Drilled.

had white walls last year, bit of a pain to keep clean, i was using shwauble white walls, total sh!t grip compared to what i have now. Hi Doulsy, I use CIF to clean the white walls, they come up a treat with little effort, worth a try mate.

Well here's my plug folks... stock 2014 PX125 E3 96 main jet & no Modifications. Air filter was a little dirty so cleaned & oiled. I decided to go for Sip 2.0 & upped main jet from 96 to 100 & drilled air filter 7&5mm any way as always felt strangled/soggy.... Short ride was a result. Long ride and WOT Plug chop tomorrow to test....

Mine's all set for tomorrow am.... cross town traffic to A41 Herts and WOT for a good 5+ miles.. then road side check where safe. What a massive change so far on a short ride. Felt like I gave Signora Vespa a nebuliser and cured her asthma.

Cor blimey what a massive improvement!
I just fitted my Sip 2.0 & upped main Jet from 96 to 100 & drilled 7+5mm holes in the air filter.
I went for a short ride to make sure all is as it should be and what a massive improvement on the strangled low end from pulling away all through the gears. No surging either.
The sound is great too, a bit deeper and not any noticeable difference in volume which is good. Mind you I'm severe/profoundly deaf but what I heard sounded real nice.
I plan to go for a proper run tomorrow & do a plug chop to see what colour biscuit I make.

I have a 2013 px125 and have ordered a sip road 2 exhaust. I am getting conflicting advise on upjetting . Midland scooter centre claim I don't have to, noticed on here a larger main jet is required. In the feature in the scootering mag Sticky upjetted the main and pilot jet. I am running a 96 main jet & 45/140 pilot jet at the moment. I was thinking of around 100 main as a starting point but what about the pilot jet? Or should I just richen it up a bit on the mixture screw and leave the pilot jet as is. Don't want to go and seize it!!! Wocha Muddy, I too bought a Sip 2.0 for my 2014 PX125 yesterday morning. It arrived today and I plan to fit and test tomorrow. Shop guy was very helpful & confirmed my Haynes Manual saying we have 96 main jets in ours. He suggested a 98 & 100. I'll fit the 100 main jet, drill air filter & clean plug then go for a good ride and do the Plug chop at services on a good dual carriageway to do the biscuit test.. I'll leave pilot jet for now unless I get any idle to low power issues pulling away etc. Looking forward to comparing with my stock set up & your results too.

I've got a HJC F70 B&W one, smaller & less bulbous than any I've owned before plus built in sun shield too.

Wocha folks, when I bought my 2 year old PX125?with 288 miles on clock the free play was about an inch! I needed to adjust it quick and couldn't get hold of a third hand tool which looks ideal so I used a bungee to pull the lever forward and secured other end to center stand, job done as it left me able to use both hands to adjust cable nipple.

Thanks all, only just seen the replies, the Vespa is stock standard as I bought it off a guy who only did 288 miles on it and no modifications. I'll take a look it the carb/plug and see what they look like.
All the best,

Wocha folks, I've been a biker for 20 years and sold my Triumph Thruxton to buy a 2014 PX125, I really love the Vespa riding experience and have found this forum useful. I use mine daily for a 30 mile commute as well as rideouts in NW London with a bunch of mates. I've also travelled to North Wales & Brighton & look forward to many years of Vespa riding.

Wocha folks, I was recommended to try 25psi front & 31psi rear by a well trusted Vespa Mechanic. His reasoning is the tyre pressures in the manual are meant for Italian weather where tyres warm up quicker.... Also heard the same for Ducati bike owners whose UK mechanics recommend higher tyre pressures too. I've ridden on this set up for 3 months without issue and I'm 16 1/2 stone.

Hello folks I have a 2014 PX125 3600km, Ive had it 3 months now and done 3300 km commuting and a couple of long trips from London to North Wales and Brighton. I always run on dipped beam day & night using a standard The only Issue I've had is an ocasional loss of power when riding at constant speed around 40-60pmh on a flat road, I have to slightly reduce the throttle and lose a few mph for a while or turn the lights off as when I maintain or increase the throttle it slows down. After a short while the problem rectifies and I can continue to ride at 50-60 mph with lights on.
I think it is an electrical fault as the fuel system appears fine staying at a steady 84-94MPG on every tank and the air filter is clean. I've seen elsewhere people talk of re-magnetising the fly wheel to rectify this, has anybody else experienced this? or know where to get this done as Google isn't coming up trumps.
Many Thanks,
RWS
