check the connections are clean on back of the horn , as thats how power feeds up to the start button . the only battery operated stuff is the horn an starter on a px so am guessing a whiles non-use=dodgy connection. H Henry thanks, The horn works every time. Allthough I can't see a reason why the horn may have an effect on the starter, should be two separate circuits... Sent from my LG-D802 using proboards

Sounds abit mad ..no idea tbh..do any of the starter/horn wires touch/taped together/share a connecter block ?..or you could just rename the horn... "The Prime Button" lol LOONE There is a improvised connection at the front...I will need to check that Sent from my LG-D802 using proboards

Hi there, I recently was missing the starter option, so I bought a new battery. But, the weirdest thing happens, starter sometimes works first try, but sometimes it will only work after using the horn. I saw this weird correlation after checking the fuse is not blown, by... using the horn. Most of the times starter works afterwards...
I know its a tough call, but any ideas where to start? It's a px200e 2001
Thanks.

Now I recall that I actually did lift the cylinder twice when I was installing and removing the pinasco kit years ago, So, I just looked at the Pinasco kit and I can't seem to find any gasket there either (scratching my head icon)

Hi, I've just lifted the cylinder for the first time since I own the Vespa (2006) and I see no base gasket... Could it be that this year model donesn't require one? I doubt it but I want to be sure.
Thanks.

Well first, clutch cable shouldn't be tight, but I doubt thats the cause for gear jumping.
Check your gear cables, make sure there's some slack in both of them.
Third, as I recall the cruciform is not symmetrical, so you can't install it both ways. How did you install yours ?

Puncture seal is an option too I guess Split rims convenient in what way? you still have to replace the inner tube while with a tubeless you just use repair kit on the spot, even in the middle of the road.

Depends on what tires you now have on, if you ride tubeless type like the michelins s83, you are all set, tale them off the current rims and install them on the new rims.

Hey guys, One of those evening I was riding my PX Vespa, it was about 50 kph not more, probably less, when all of a sudden, the rear tire went flat in a split second, while cars all around me (city evening rush hour ) and in a middle of an intersection, the Vespa started shaking violently, It was real hard to control it, luckily I was not hit by a car. If I was in the highway, I would probably be dead. What shook me is how sudden the tire went flat. Anyway, a week later I purchased two Italian made tubeless type aluminum rims, no ebay, just went to the vespa shop, was'nt cheap but my life is worth more than 200$ !! I also bought tubeless tire flat repair kit to fix two holes in the Michelin tires.
Anyway for those who still ride these split tube type rims, I strongly suggest replacing them asap. Its a Russian, or shall I say Italian roulette ;-)

Hi there,
Anyone knows which models use the thin and thick type piston rings? I assume my original Vespa has the thick type, if I remember correctly.
Secondly, Anyone can recommend an online site who sells good quality ones ?
thanks.

Vespa looks nice, ive always wondered if the king and queen seat is comfy as it looks. Yes, photographing is a good idea, especially wiring etc, assuming you're going to work on it too. If youre going to get a paint job, you might want to hold back on the wd40, at least for the body parts. Paint doesnt like oily areas (unless vespa is cleaned with some kind of paint cleaner/thinner).

I got sonething close to this, their week spot is where the arm connects to the base, with a small nut and spring. Not too stiff and might move inwards on high speeds.

there should be a minimal free play in the crank no play at all can mean the main bearing would experience side pressure add normal expansion of metal, due to heat, and you got more pressure
if i were to guess, it should be less than a mm i ASSUME 0.3 mm would be ok

Couldn't get the original to come off, took me a day to do that alone, then couldn't get the new one on at all. AFAIK it's still sitting at the back of the garage somewhere, where I threw it in disgust. lol, this reminds me trying to put on the vespa's leg shield trim took me an hour to put on... it was the hardest thing in the sprint restoration...

Just wanted to share my experience with the proboards app, it works well, text is large, theres word wrap (unlike viewing the desktop site via phone), its easy to navigate forums, easy to reply or view attached images, you can set up default view (specific forum or recent unread messages etc). It not free but costs just a couple of bucks.

Well, I had the opposite experience, I ordered a few parts, and after a month not getting them, I emailed the company several times via email address and contact form, with no answer whatsoever... Meanwhile I ordered the same parts from beedspeed . A few days later, I got the parts from scooter-center after almost 60 days from my initial order. After a few days later, I got the parts from beedspeed as well. So now I have 3 front brake master cylinder gasket kits...

im not a modification expert but I do know that the right level of pressure, BETWEEN the two following points: 1 - the cylinder and 2- the end of the exhaust, is crucial to performance and Im not sure enlarging the exhaust port would increase performance...it may do the opposite by lowering exhaust pressure...

You pull the clutch and it doesn't disengage? maybe the cable is just about holding to its last threads... i would replace the cable to a new one

hi, if the rings are ok you should feel some resistance in the kick starter... its not a professional method but no compression will be felt in the kick starter.
one other thing that comes to mind is maybe the carb is warped, and then air leaks in. does the scooter idle fine? when its hot do you see a change in the idle (increases)?

I had a somonini on my PX but I replaced it with the stock a month ago, I just couldn't bear the noise, and people would think a sesena plane was approching when I came around...
