Hi all, After a few years in the garage, I started riding my sprint 68 again. The front suspension is mmm, how to put it, BAD. Lots of dive, with hardly no damping. The spring and damping element look original, and I assume they need replacement. Any of you guys upgraded their suspension and can share what they did, what they bought and if it did make a significant change in rideability ? Thanks, Ilan.

I have installed a led light in my Sprint 68 speedometer. Works fine.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I just wondered if the bolts are in dead center.

Hi there, I want to check my PX frame for alignment. Does anyone know if a strait line between the two bolts (see drawing) should meet EXACTLY at the middle of the steering neck? Thanks.

Well, turned out the problem was the "safety starter interlock relay". What's bizzare, I still don't see how the horn affects it. Anyway, looks like problem solved.

Thanks guys, the 80 stuff looks like a good product.
Regarding the paint I think I'll leave the old coats, and just repair any dents or scratches.

Hi,
I'm considering repainting my PX. I have two concerns regarding the job:
1 - I'm thinking about not removing the current paint coats (at least two, as far as I can see) but only polish and repair dents and scratches with a filler.
2- A bigger concern I have, is how to prevent rust reappearing after the paint job, in the connecting area of the floorboard and body. I can polish and remove the rust I see on the surface, but I assume some unreachable rust will be left in. I'm thinking of maybe pouring some rust convertor into the area, from within the body (via where the fuel tank is)
What do you think?

I just ordered a 25 litter compressor, two pistons for fast refill, can produce 350 liter of air per minute. That should be enough for home uses, painting or using pneumatics.

Thanks! Yes, it was some kind of a spiral spring I think or two dowel type springs one inside another. I guess Ill have to take a closer look to know which one it is.

Hi there, Can anyone help me locate this part: It's a hardened metal pin that locks the starter motor gear, see attached photo of the gear (this pin goes in the left one). Thanks.

Hi, I was wondering what it would be like putting on the Simonini on my stock cylinder? Anyone tried it?
Im not after power gain (or else I'd reinstall the Pinasco cylinder back on) but just for the looks and for diverting the exhaust fumes to the back of the scooter instead of just under the body, where it goes strait up to my helmet on long red stops.
thanks.

As much as I tried, I couldn't find an sae30 but only a multigrade oil. Will a 15-30w do the job?

But doesn't the SAE refer to the viscosity and not the ingredients in the oil? So as far as I understand it could be SAE with additives. how can I tell?

mmm I actually forgot about the clutch plates sharing the gear box oil, although I doubt that slippage can occur in such a small power engine. As for the oil, I didn't know that there are additives that can attack yellow metals. Ill check my oil type as well, thanks.

Even if the gears are engaging correctly, looks like too much of a free play. It can effect the vespa handling, especially when cornering.

The Vespa gear is sealed, so being a two stroke doesn't effect the oil requirements for the gear. Yes, you can use the 4 stroke 30 sae oil.

Henri, I can't remember the color but I did see an improvised connection when I took off the horn cover. I'll definitely have to check that, starting off by disconnecting it. I also spotted a lonely pink wire not conneted to anything.

And what's more weird is that the horn doesn't need to be on while trying to start, it's enough if I just push it a sec before I push the starter button.... I'll try to post a video
