Music in the Australia scooter scene isn't too bad. At the national rally in Perth there were the usual cover bands who were alright but there was also an ace young band who probably qualified as 'thrusting young geetar sex gods'. These kids were pretty special though can't remember the name of them, know that one of the Syndey music promoters is looking to put them on up here on the back of that gig.

There's a GS that Sting had in Quadrophenia at The Hard Rock Cafe in Sydney. It doesn't look right though, was it a different model b*st**dised?
The Manager likes Mod stuff and has held on to the scoot longer than he is supposed to! (think they rotate the collection every few years or something).

Got tickets to seem them in Sydney in April, whoo Not generally a fan of seeing reformed bands because I'm skeptical that it will be as good as the first time round ... but I've heard they're still ace. Anyone seen them and can confirm?

Anyone know if Conty whitewalls go on okay with tubeless rims? (AF or Sip ones).

Hmm, this all makes for interesting reading especially as I'm in the process of putting in a mammoth parts order for my Series 2 Lammy, including 3 new wheel rims! Think I might just head down the tubeless route.
Ta for the description Rob.

This one is the DB's performance wise. Bit pricey though and you might have a spot of bother changing the rear wheel. tinyurl.com/77qt3xo

Erm, I might be being very daft here but can someone explain the tubeless rims concept to me? Where is the air if not in the tube?

Reckon so, gonna try and get permanent residency. Good lifestyle out here and economy isn't goosed. If I can get PR I can travel again and still be able to come back.
The main thing I miss about Blighty is the footy!

Good mate, you?
Just got back from the Australian National rally in Perth. Good scene out here, mainly ex-pats.
Also looking at shipping out my PX so the Malossi can ride again!

Got a tiny wee shock and saw no spark to be seen, looks like electrics then. Mate has put me on to me a guy who knows about this stuff.

Hey,
The other week there was a 5 day straight heavy downpour and since then my Vespa won't start. Doesn't kick in even a little bit really.
Tried a different plug but to be honest the one I put in as a replacement didn't look in great nick so just waiting for another one to arrive.
Anything else I should do? What are the steps for checking the spark?
I think it may be an electrical issues as a few days prior the headlight and brake lights went (rear light had gone a while back).
It's a VBB with LML engine, has a battery but it's been turned off for ages as the stator is knackered.
Cheers.

Mr M! How's it going mate? Long time no see Hey Dan I am still around but in stealth mode ;D Very quiet here now I enjoyed winding Spence up where is he ? Nik polite head well I never Stealth mode on a 2-stroke, most difficult! I can only presume Spence has turned his back on Vespas and now rides a Harley Davidson complete with leather chaps. I made it down the Dog when I was back on Manc in May, shame I didn't catch ya. Next time!

I dont my hubs myself with some cans from Halfords, turned out pretty well. Can't remember what I used exactly but think was just a couple of coats of spray-paint and some lacquer. Just remember to put plenty of masking tape on everything!

Haha, can't have a travel blog if you're not travelling!
Am actually thinking of switching just to a general more minimal blog that I can throw bits into here and there .... then use if for travel stuff too, like when i go tour Vietnam for 3 weeks in September.

Regarding the piece of mind, I know what you mean. I was the same when it came to getting my first scoot, but in hindsight getting a low mileage (very low) PX, say a year or 2 old, wouldn't have been a bad idea. Save a packet plus it's already run-in!

Mate, you asked pretty much the same thing in the introductions section and Jack The Rip gave you some good advice.
Personally I'd want a Vespa and I love my PX. But I've also got an LML 150 in a VBB frame and am quite impressed with the performance.

Ta Joey. I'll get onto the cowboys at the shop and ask 'em why they decided to remove this part and not bother putting it back.
Last time I'm going there as my suspicions (that the fella is fly as f*ck!) were confirmed when I went down one of the scooter clubs the other night. None of them will go near him, known to be dodgy. There's another place further away that is supposed to be sound so will give them my business now.

Got this sorted eventually the other day. Fuel tap assembly had actually snapped and had to be replaced so the scoot shop sorted it.
Just gave the old girl a clean now and noticed that the large tube between the carb and going into a hole into the body of the scoot is missing altogether. What is it actually called and how crucial is it? (presume it's not just there for show and guessing it is related to air intake in the carb?).
Been on a couple of short runs since I've had it back and it seems okay. Going on a longer run tomorrow so I will soon find out if it's a problem!

I'm guessing it is stuck in the off position as just before the lever came off I had the symptoms of it being off, engine ran for 20 seconds or so and then cut out (I guess after using what was already in the carb). Then again I had not set it to off so unless some scruff on the street did (quite possible!), it should be set to on, which would mean there is another problem then wouldn't it? As I can't get to the fuel tap to adjust it I think it will be safer just to clamp it. Will try and borrow some mole grips from someone at work. Ta.
