Has anyone else noticed how scooterist tunes seem to be appearing absolutely everywhere lately?
Lifestyle TV programmes, adverts, movie soundtracks, and on an awful lot of tannoys at football matches...
In fact, while typing this thread I've been listening to the football on Radio 5 Live. They're going round the grounds getting the pre-match spiel from the reporters and, in order, they've been accompanied by Nightboat To Cairo (Madness), On My Radio (Selecter), Carry Go Bring Come (The Dominoes) and I Fought The Law (The Clash). As far as I can remember, Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag (Pigbag) gets played at Chelsea when they score as well.
I've just bought the Hot Fuzz soundtrack and it includes tracks by The Kinks, The Troggs and The Move. Recently I've heard Dirty Barbara's Dirty Dreams (Leicester Squares) on a daytime auction/antiques show, Bert's Apple Crumble (The Quik) on DIY SOS, Have Love Will Travel (The Sonics) on a Freelander ad, The Snake (Al Wilson) on a Lambrini ad, not to mention KFC's Northern Soul campaign and any number of Ska tracks in adverts for things as diverse as bread and family tax credit.
So what's going on? Is someone out there trying to subliminally convert the entire nation to scootering through the medium of incidental music?
Which ones have you heard? Use this thread to list them if you spot any.

Thing is look at the genres that are present in the scooterscene...mod, ska, soul, punk, 60s, modern bands such as the Kaisers etc. It covers a lot of sounds.
And someone who sorts the music backgrounds out for eastenders is defo a scooterist. Almost every song on the jukebox in the Vic or on the radio in the cafe is a scooterist sound.

Well there's got to be some influence when most of the cast of Quad's been in the show. Phil Daniels, Mark Wingett, John Altman, Michael Elphick, Kate Williams... And there's Minty's GS of course (I don't know if that was in the film or not).
I do know for a fact that a mate of the lads in Mohair works on the Eastenders production crew and has sneaked one of their posters onto a wall in the background of a shot.

Spence,Tim am i reading this correctly ?Are you both unwittingly admitting to watching Eastenders. Do you not have some wet paint you can sit and watch dry or something equally exciting? Imho far better than Eastenders!

I can't handle Billy Benders. If you ever find yourself watching the omnibus, do the cry count . You very rarely get less than 32 people blubbering while mouthing some c**kney twoddle per session.
None of that bobbins with Corrie. Bit of Northern humour, that's what you need. *
Good point on the music, will be listening to the public address system (Tannoy is a brand name as Alan Partridge pointed out!) at half time tomorrow (at the City vs Hammers match) with much interest. They normally play some pretty rare stuff, well my Dad often starts dancing anyway.
* Note, on average I watch one episode of Corrie per month and I haven't see the Southern one for several years. Hopefully my rugged image is still in tact, ahem.

I watch Eastenders looking at my watch, to see how many minutes into it someone says "family", then I switch it off. Just like I watch Masterchef looking at my watch to see how many minutes into it someone says "passion" or "passionate about food" then I switch it off.
But let's not get sidetracked here:
California Soul by Davida Holmes in the soundtrack of the Italian Job remake last night. Town Called Malice straight after the Everton/Wigan match today.

I work from home and it's on when I stop to eat my lunch. I don't like it any more, not since David Dickinson left to concentrate on his custom scooter spraying business.

Try typing in the 'C' word and see what you get Mark. ;D
Yes, my rude wordometer does seem a bit over zealous, I'll look into that. I think we can cope with the word 'dick' without offending too many people!
Back to the thread. I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs, Ben Fogle's Extreme Dreams

The forum has one, yes. Did you think everyone was really well behaved putting asterisks in all their swearwords?
I'm starting to see a pattern developing here. Bargain Hunt again today, Groovy Train - The Farm and Time Is Tight - Booker T & The MGs.
