I don't mind the cold, it's the wet I can't stand. Rain is the enemy of the metal scooter, and the friend of rust. There's something very nice about wrapping up warm and getting out on a crisp, cold day. So that's what happens to me in the winter, I keep on riding, as long as it's not p*shing it down that is.

I buff mine with dry cotton wool, or a new born baby chick, after each journey to prevent rust.

I ride my trusty steed all year round. I let the missus use the car, and come rain or shine scoot to work beating the traffic jams and parking up without any problem, well until recently, when an over zealous traffic warden decided to slap a ticket on my machine, but thats another story. If it rains, and man some months it seems to p*sh down everyday, when I get home I wipe off the excess water and buff up to a lovely shine to prevent rust taking a hold. I have a full screen which at first I was'nt sure about, but what a great move that was, keeps all the rain and sh*t off, and on those cold winter days cuts out that bitterly cold wind. So, come on all you fair weather riders, get on your scooters and ride all year round. Keeps your machine in better condition cos its being used and not left standing and seizing up, and you get to use that machine you love riding. Why wait till the Spring/Summer months? Use it, and enjoy the all year round experience, you'll wonder why you never did it before once you have done it , and never look back.

Couldn't agree more marco lad . I use mine all year 'round no matter what the weather , it's what it's all about -jumping on the scoot every morning to go to work .Once you get your first winter under your belt you've cracked it.

Quite a low turnout for the last Alliance ride (Preston to Morecambe). We were the only two from C9 and I didn't see any Liverpool, is it the Mersey Bowl this Sunday then?

The next Lancs Alliance run is the last official one of the year, here's the details:
Sunday October 16 Derian House Chorley Meet at Yarrow Bridge Hotel (on the A6 in Chorley) at 12:30pm. Depart 1:00pm for mass ride to Derian House to present all the money that the Lancashire Alliance has raised throughout the year for this Hospice (for those who don’t know the Hospice looks after terminally ill children and is run totally on donations). Afterwards there will be free Hotpot at Trader Jacks & a pint or two. For more details call Paul on 07940 445050

If this weather keeps up, the answer to the question in the title of this thread will be "What is this 'Winter'?" .
All those that went on the Lancs Alliance ride to Chorley today will agree that it was one of the best rides of the year, glorious sunshine and mild temperatures all day. Global warming, it's the way ahead.

Looking forward to collecting my lovely new 1967 Sprint 150 once it's been MOT'd. Then I have to register it. I can't see myself waiting until next Spring to give it an airing, so I hope we get some crisp, dry days because it's too beautiful to be hidden away.
I'd like it to be my chosen ride for the Mersey Bowl SC Annual Boxing Day excursion.

nice one mate, so you bought it then. You are best going direct to Fulwood with your reg papers as me and jeff did, then its registered all the quicker. Also my black and silver pressed number plate was only £13.50 from mersey motorcycles and they turned it around really fast.

Thanks for the advice. When you say Fulwood, is that in Preston? If so, I was set to go to Chester which is probably closer for me.
I'll definitely look into the number plate tip though. So far the research I've done has only come up with vinyl plates and they're generally more expensive than your quote.

Slow apparently, you have to set aside a couple of hours, then when you get to the front of the queue hope you don't get dealt with by Selma Bouvier who's a real old cow by all accounts.
