Hi guys a little confused i was told the px t-stroke couldn't be brought up to euro 4? and the garages comment
" After installation of new parts, its probably that you'll have the same problem because this type of motorbike its not ready for travels or big distances with the new system of euro4."
Is a complete joke !!!!!!!!!!!everything sold in the eu has to be fit for purpose,no way vespa just dumped the bike on the market a fire hazard something is wrong with either the components used or its first shakedown,my first new red vespa had a bubble in the casting leaked oil after 10 miles !! but the shop were great offered me a repair new engine or a new bike , they only had white so white she is 6000km later not missed a beat and smooth bog standard euro 3

Hi guys i asked the vespa mechanic he said the low front is nothing to do with climate or temperature its weight distribution the front is inevitably light with the engine at the back,so to get the optimum matching rubber on the road (back and front) 18 26 are the best grip option,he said using a higher pressure at the front is actually dangerous as it will reduce the contact patch .....me being the the eternal pessimist decided to test this theory lol
did a tape measure test with a mate on the scoot at various angles and on the road identical px125s (but mine,s white so better looking lol) even a slightly higher pressure definitely affects braking and stability one proviso is this is based on the average weight say 13st so if your heavier or lighter so perhaps get a 13st friend to sit on the scoot 18 26 measure the contact patch, then you get on and inflate to match ,not very scientific but might be an adea george

hi guys i always make my own gaskets ,a set of craft leather hole punches and a craft knife and a micrometer, the bloody gaskets never seem to line up nowadays and the paper quality is shocking and of dubious thickness....... its also very therapeutic and rewarding ,restoring my xs650 the carb bowl gaskets that came with a refurb kit were frankly junk they leaked like a sieve, and when i measured them they were different thicknesses all over the gaskets ,i made up a couple of new ones no leaks george

"Buy from a scooter shop or known good online supplier"
absolutely spot on, whats so silly is i was the local guinea pig several mates with bike cars, family cars............Customer service is everything and it doesn't do the tyre manufactures any good ,i now associate my irritation with the tyres i didn't get,my natural reaction as per response is buy michelin s83s ,I ride 10 miles to buy my 2t oil from the vespa scooter shop ,they have given me great customer service that's how it works ,i can buy it 2 miles down the road
Glasgow Lambretta Scooter Shop have the michelin s83s,if anyone has a preferred supplier of tyres that's given good service post it and i,ll buy from them

Hi guys placed order for Heidenau K57 in stock on website paid then waited.......email arrived "tyres not available can we suggest an alternative "the alternative was the Heidenau K58 ok good tyre well liked on here ,more faffing have to apply for refund then buy again .......................then waited .....email eventually arrived "tyres not available can we suggest an alternative "the alternative was the continental WTF ........i can only conclude they don't have the tyres in stock they claim and whatever tyre they would have eventually sent would be the only tyre they actually have
george
whatever ever happened to the concept of customer service !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!perhaps the big fellas telling me to just buy the michelin s83s

"4 stroke motor for the px chassis" hi mate thats the logical step i suppose but i wouldn't want one, that little phut phut two stroke is a big part of the charm for me,i was intending to trade the bike in for a new one when the warranty runs out but i think i will keep the px a mate and i have a project px so i will de euro 3 this one, just seem a shame george

Hi guys dont know the science but (euro 4 bikes Sealed Housing for Evaporative Determination)along with other stuff just don't make it workable, of course you can pollute with garden strimmers, facial scrub beads ,diesel vans and all other manor of crap ,but prohibiting a little two stroke scooter is going to save the planet, the shop owner has put aside a couple for himself wonder ,i how it will affect prices and spares, you can buy new factory parts for 70s technology now if it all ends up being made in china if the after market parts are as good as the dreadful yamaha xs650 ones might start buying a few now george

Visited my piaggio dealer yesterday for me bits and bobs ,i have chatted with the owner about the 2017 bikes and i've always had
"no they won't drop the px they will work out the emissions etc ,but an emphatic no more px
i know two strokes are environmentally bad ,but i grew up with r,s kettles,kh and the wonderful motogp 500s that lovely clatter is a wonderful sound in all guises

Hi mate £9,95 that's not good seems another post code lottery thing,i just dont like the mindset to put a premium rate phone number to contact if delayed or any other problems, i can only think its intended to either catch you out if you don't notice it or worse to dissuade you from contacting if they don't turn up, this sort of sneaky hidden cost crap irritates the life out of me and i would rather pay more than feel i,m being manipulated,if they charged me 31p a minute to pull a pint that they want me to buy i would find another pub lol i worked in retail, and certain practices says volumes about a company and i think often reflect on all of its practices

Did it come with the manufacturer's two year warranty? I bought a new px first one had a cracked casing it was a casting fault i refused as it was not fit for purpose but as i bought it from a reputable dealer he replaced it with a brand new one,if you don't get any joy read www3.hants.gov.uk/tradingstandards/tradingstandards-consumer/goodsandservices-consumers/tsguide-buyingamotorcycle.htmtrading standards distance selling and book an appointment at your local citizen advice bureau ,i was horrified with my first px but was assured it was a fluke i was very nervous for a while ,but my new one has now done 5000 km touch wood not missed a beat good luck keep us updated people on here are very knowledgeable and very helpful george

just a note of warning i bought my px new and have so far had no real problems or additional cost ,my mate bought a fixer upper late 90s we had a pint the other night and all those little spares/purchases accumulate really quick,i restored an xs650 and thoroughly enjoyed it but was horrified when i added up all the receipts, everything wears on a bike and you can keep chasing one part after another, and they are often worn out anyway george

same here ,conti-moves are getting rare .switched to heidanau k58's an am reasonably impressed with them. an "george1966" , "what tyres for a stock px" , round ones with a hole in the middle , sorry been dying to say that for days .H
hi H. lol i will buy a set of heidanau k58 the sava that came with the bike actually feel ok but i,ve worn out the spare so can use the others as spares ,reading posts i was thinking about a tubeless rim on the front can always move them about george

Did it feel any more grippy? i didn't really notice any difference to be honest, but then I don't really throw the P200 around much, I'm not a big fan of how PX's handle compared to other models ;-)

Hi thanks,i,ve only ever bought the big brands but the Heidenau seem to be well liked i will try a set, the sava,s that came with the vespa seemed fine but i wasn't really expecting slick traction from a small wheel, i haven't ridden a scooter for many years and all my bikes had were easy to buy for

If I try and start it with the button it just spins over really fast If I give it a few kicks first then press the button it starts ok. ? missing riding it, roll on spring! Hi mate i have a 2015 px are you using the (choke i believe it's really a fuel richner)1/2 ? and 2015 still under warranty take it back, mine starts fine on the button with choke after a sevice george

Sorry, have a few tools? i had lots of spares new and old he had to collect with a van lol the px was to be a ride only with a warranty no wrenching, but its hard to shake lol
scooterists are the worst for "stuck a big carb ,exhaust off a mack truck,an a bottle of vodka in tank as octane booster,to go faster coz a "guy/tuner in the pub" said i'd get 90 out of it up everest" , an now it wont start an makes a funny crunchy noise .must be the lawnmower plug i borrowed coz the one from car stopped working. etc etc . you got to love em , scoots that is , scooterists drive me nuts . H
very good .............LOL .............that sums up exactly why i research everything there is a great old expression
Before you do anything "wait for the guinea pigs to f**k up"

so you need a new pre euro piaggio rotary valve engine?,,cant see you fitting a LML reedvalve or would you? lol what you going to do with it? just strip and rebuild it? why? I,m a bit of a tinkerer and have built several bikes nut and bolt up over the years, strip and rebuild is a great way of learning any of idiosyncrasies of the design lots of fun and saves you money ,a simple clutch rebuild in an xs 650 £260 parts £40 ,swing arm bushes £75 parts £9 and as its yours so you do it properly..............hopefully lol my xs650 was relatively quiet lol smooth running reliable the chap that bought it was amazed, as he had tried several, its not a talent, is dull meticulous research and attention to detail,i don't care about paint jobs stickers lights loud exhausts etc lubrication lubrication lubrication lol one very important lesson i have learnt to my cost ..........lol.......is companies like vespa yamaha suzuki etc have huge budgets great engineers designers diagnostic tools to get a bike setup and running correctly and some of there bikes unfortunately fall into the hands of some people that think you can just simply bolt on a couple of bits ............ the xs forum was awash with aftermarket bolt on c**kups lol and after a lot of head scratching and kicking my guts out, i returned the bike to stock and it worked brilliantly with bulletproof reliability george

Hi i think it depends on what you want from a bike ,my mri scan scuppered my plans if my back had been up to it i would have bought a ducati scrambler,so the px,s qualities for me are the agricultural simple pretty functional ,speed wasn't a consideration,it inhabits a different space ,i,ve had rocket ships ,off road monsters and totally functional and the best bike "for its intended purpose" i ever owned was a c90 honda ,the complete motorcycle bulletproof simplicity itself cheap to run it ticks every box,it was designed to fill ,
my ktm 640 supermoto tuned with not meant for road use tyres lol was the most headbanging fun ,but the castering effect gives awesome direction changes but its limited to 110/115 mph but it gets there fast......... and power wheelies everywhere,i have enjoyed all my bikes but for very different reasons, buying or building a spare pre cat px engine is a big part of the fun for me,my mates take the p*sh a little lol about my px 2stroke but only cos its a scooter, but like the c90 R1,kettle kwack9,400/4 t120 b51,mv ect it is a motorcycling icon,it don't need bells or whistles, funny twist gears 2stroke 10"wheels its a vespa george

I should have said i had a very helpful message ,almost a warning .......every thing you change could impact on the next change,ie something as simple as replacing the cut out throttle slide is a critical part and is usually ignored if i have a project engine smooth running non euro 1 we can test it in the bike and at the end of the warrantee use the non euro 1 as a template for the existing one if its practical george

are you wanting a project engine to build or just a standard bolt-in pre euro engine? if your fitting this within your 2 year warranty wouldn't it be easier to just fit a non-cat exhaust instead of a full engine? standard ones ive seen go for £25-£30 on ebay or better still a sip road your 7000rpm restricted cdi shouldn't bother you unless you want a tuned engine pulling 65-70mph,if your happy upto 60mph its fine Hi I want a project engine pre euro because i want a smooth running quiet engine de restricted engine , fitting a standard exhaust and removing cat ,to the existing engine does not take the altered inlet/transfers into consideration ,the exhausts you can buy were calibrated for size inlet size /timing of earlier pre cat engines ..........don't know the physics/mechanics? its gas lol..... of it ...but rough running seems to be the outcome ,i dont know if it changes the charge, i have no idea, but a precat px runs sweet like my new one just more powerful en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Arbeitsweise_Zweitakt.gifnot sure i,m making sense but someone clever will explain why lol george
