Could anyone offer their view of the best PX125 barrel kit to produce a stronger midrange. I've reached the conclusion that better acceleration is more important than increased top speed, though that would be nice. I'm wasting my time chasing higher top speed unless I'm prepared to carve 6 stone off my lardy butt.

its always worth matching cases ,even on a stock barrel . your only other alternative is to get a tapeworm .guaranteed 3-4 stone lost in 6 weeks ,an you can still eat all you want . H

You will find a 112 main and drilled filter with the Dr and a sip 2 or simmi pipe will open your scoot up enough to keep you happy as long as you own it and go for a b8 plug for cooler running.going upto a cosa clutch will give you a faster top end but you will find you can sit at 60 all day without effort on a standerd clutch

Can I just contradict you a little bit? The temperature rating of the plug has no affect on the temperature of the engine. The reason to adjust the plug rating is that when you have jetted an engine so it feels perfect for your use, then you look at the plug, if the plug is getting too hot but you like the jetting, then a colder one can be put in so the plug cools down a bit. Then a last fiddle with the jetting and you're done. So after all that ramble, the plug is adjusted to get itself in the zone of the engine.
btw phattanglo, you could try copying the main points of Sime's build

Just fitted a DR 177 kit to my scooter, LML star,I'm running it with a standard exhaust at the moment, it does have a lot more torque at low revs over the standard 125 cylinder, as you'd expect, the only downside up to now is the noise , it sounds almost like a Diesel engine, I've read that this is because of the large piston to barrel clearance , pulls away in 2nd gear 2 up now!! I got the kit from the Italian supplier mentioned above , £96 delivered, took 5 days, bargain. Fingers crossed the LMLs crank is up to it, there has been some issues with them in the past.
