Hi all, New here and hoping for some help! I'll try to be as brief and descriptive as possible. I've recently replaced the xmas tree on my Vespa PK 125 ELESTART XL. As you'll know, to do this is a pain and a lot of work! I'm at the stage where there are now very minor things to be done to get the bike back on the road, or so I thought. When the spark plug is out, the flywheel turns perfectly every kick and I can get a nice spark. As soon as I put the spark plug in and kick down, the flywheel stops turning (turns every now and again but not enough to start the bike). I thought it might have been to do with the clutch cable so I loosened it and still no joy. I have tried to bump it and the result is exactly the same as trying to kickstart it. So, no plug in cylinder = kicks down beautifully and strong spark. Plug in cylinder = kicks down and comes back up no problem but flywheel doesn't spin. I'm really hoping this is a minor thing to fix... Compression? Clutch? Cheers!

slipping clutch ,maybe , when you did the tree was it replaced with stock 1 ,or a drt short/rms 1 , an did you pull the clutch basket or leave in cases , does sound like clutch is slipping as soon as faced with a load from compression , did you replace the clutch plunger or disturb it ,maybe its turned in the case an pushing on clutch pressure plate ,either way think you'll have to get clutch case off an have a look . Tree is stock and I did pull the clutch basket. I'll take the clutch case off tomorrow and see what's going on!
Thanks for the advice!
Cheers!

thats why i asked bout the tree kidda ,as drt/rms ones use different amounts of teeth , 10 or 11 if memory serves , am hoping its a clutch set-up thing as anything else is a cases split kind of deal, H

I had the same kind of problem a bit ago if you remember vespa.proboards.com/thread/4925/1987-px125-start-slips-engine and it turned out to be the cog, when I stripped the engine you could see the top of the teeth had rounded off a touch, rekon it was due to the time I put the piston in the wrong way round and was trying start it like a crazy mofo kicking it like a mule haha, anyway H check this out we have got it going, whoop whoop, winner haha, nice one for the advice and that your a star, cheers mate av a gudun

Cheers for the help guys! Appreciate it! The tree was standard and the cog was in good condition when putting engine back together. I replaced the Input shaft woodruff and also the clutch woodruff so hopefully not that. I've added a couple of videos for you too see what I'm dealing with. No plug
With plug
Fingers crossed its the clutch and thanks for the support henri. Bike sounds sweet as kidda, hopefully get mine on the road soon!

Ok, From that we can see the crank is not spinning so its very likely the clutch side somewhere is at fault...or of course the kickstart is not engaging under compression. Hooe you find the cause
