Hi All,
I have a 6 week old Matt Black GTS Super Sport which unfortunately has a small dent / crease on the bodywork, at the top of the "wheel arch" area a few inches below the seat. Due to the matt black paint it's not that obvious, but I know it's there, and I think it might be one of the main reasons I couldn't sell it recently. (change of circumstances now dictates I need to)
I took it to a local SMART repair place who confirmed that they couldn't "get to" the other side of the body work to lever the dent out and due to it's location they advised filling / sanding and respraying. However due to the special nature of the paint - metallic and matt at the same time? - they said that they couldn't spray this in and then polish in as can't polish Matt paint. So they quoted me about £400 to strip it down and respray the whole panel front to back essentially...
I know I'm going to lose money on selling the Vespa anyhow, but to have to do £400 worth of work for a minor dent is pretty galling.
does anyone have any alternative opinions on repair this, suggestions around previous experience maybe? I would be very grateful for anyone that can help me out.
As an alternative, and not a great one, are there decal sets which curve round the wheel arch that I could use to cover this defect?
With the issue resolved I was looking for £3500 for the bike with <500km, 6 weeks old and on a 13 reg. Do people think this is over optimistic?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Regards,
