Hello All,
Over the last few years I have restored an 1981 P125x. It was a battery version, but its not now. Also, it was modified with a 177 polini kit, now back to stock with a 125 cylinder on it.
Here is the idle in the video:
The idle is uneven and there is a ticking noise.
Carb is clean Mixture screw is a fat end one with a course thread, moving it only seems to have an effect when its almost at the end, when it goes faster. Engine doesn't stop when the mix screw is all the way in. I looked down the inlet hole and when the screw is pushed all the way in the end protrudes quite far into the cavity. 2/3 mm maybe.
Jets:
160/BE3/96
idle jet (i think its called) 40-120
Starter - 60
First question is whether its normal for that mix screw to be protruding so far in and having little effect until the end? If not I guess that could be my problem (or one of them).
If it is normal, what can i do to get this running more evenly?
Last question: what the hell is that ticking noise?
Thanks in advance for any advice
Bob

Thanks,
I've bought some bits and pieces to make a leak test, new plugs and some exhaust paste. While I'm waiting I thought I would take the head off.
Spark plug was black and wet, same as the top of piston. I guess that's a sign of being rich?
I keep yo posted Chief
