Hi… I have restored a Vespa PK80s however, I am having difficulty selecting the gears. I have put new cables in but, cannot select the gears correctly. I’ve set the selector to neutral and ensured that it’s out of gear, but still cannot select the correct gears. Any help is very much appreciated. I’m in Worksop (UK)

Hello there I would take cables off and spin rear wheel forward and try to select gears by hand with the selector if you have just rebuilt it could be the shifting cross is it the right one or the gear cogs the right way round.is the gear shifting box ok. Let us know how you get on cheers alan.

Hi Alan… I think I have now got the gears as they should however, the issue I now have is when I select a gear with the clutch in the scooter stalls! The clutch fork is moving all the way, it’s as though it’s not making any difference. When I took the scooter out last week the clutch appeared to be working fine, it was just selecting the wrong gear.

Hello there could be your takeover is to slow. as you pull clutch in it puts a strain on the engine and if takeover to slow it can stall when put in gear or mixture could be a little week. Good luck with it you'll get there cheers alan.

That’s an interesting point! It is ticking over slowly. I will try it. 👍
