I've got a P range which I picked up a while back just for a run around. don't really do mechanics, but I'd love to get a bit more performance. she's already got a polini 180 kit and exhaust on , and I swapped the carb for a 24mil last year. However, I seem to get about 65 out of it and then it starts pinking every now and then. I had a word over the counter at Kegra and they reckoned pre-mixing 2 stroke and using a better fuel. Haven't actually tried this yet but does anyone know what ratio oil:petrol I should use, given that the bike has an autolube as well?
I'm also concerned that maybe the carb needs jetting correctly. I just whacked it on, so I'm bloody clueless as to whether it's correct or not! Do I need a better exhaust than the polini??? recommendations, cheapish if possible (under 150 quid?)
Lastly, any tips on removing the front mudguard for a respray?
apologies for the totally dumbass questions, but I get very little time to do any spanner work due to my other pastime...
Spence can explain!

your pinking could be down to incorrect ignition timing as kits do require the stator plate moving by a few degrees

If you're going to pre-mix, get a little jug from the scooter shop, it tells you on the side exactly how much to put in, and disconnect the autolube once it's run dry.
To get the front mudguard off you have to remove the forks from the headset and take it off over the top. b*ll*cks to that.

Spence, yeah I know about the little jug mate, but to work the little jug, you need to know what percentage oil to add... My point being, as the bike has an autolube already, should I add an extra 1 or 2 or 3% s-stroke...Thoughts? How much does the autolube add?
I thought the bloody headset might have to come off. bugger!
Mr smallframe, thanks for the advice on the stator plate.
