It all depends on what you want from your scooter, I had a mental 135 motor in a smallframe, that needed rebuild very often, but always put a big grin on my face. Now I have a bgm motor that it tuned to the max 😁. Had standard motors but not as much fun , so tune it then tune it more, blow it up and start again with more tuning 🤪🤪🤪

Tuned mine to make it more reliable, at the time I was doing 55+ miles a week, it got some hammer… 😶🌫️ Might be a little more devil may care this time round… 😈

You have to consider what you need and want, that gives you the focus.
Some tuning is benefial when you need a but more.
Standard engines are built on assemblies lines with mass produced parts made and tollerances can be large but they must be able to be churned out.
A great start is with polishing and match surfaces (blueprinting); match carb box to carb bottom, match gaskets so no interference, match barrel ports, enlarge exhaust port.
My vespa is bottom end tuned with the inlet timing increased on crank and inlet, this allows a longer period of fuel inlet. Carb box matched to 26mm SI The top was a stage 4 Piaggio barrel/piston tuned by RSTuning. It now runs an autisa 200 (im now in 3rd o/s). Crankcase matched to barrel. It runs a standard 200 GB and cosa clutch. The expansion pipe has now gone for SIPR3 And standard ignition set at 19 deg, with a late flywheel with starter gear ring removed. This was all done to make a touring motorway set up for hard rally use, that was still reluable and decent on fuel. For me it was needed and was perfect.
To some extent.... Always tune to the extent you need

Tune it. Otherwise they are lame as a 125. It is a commitment. You should be good with a spanner or willing to learn. But yeah tune.

That's not advice it's just what I think. You have got a good exhaust put that on , you'll love its a great set up with drilled filter. No reason why then over time you can tune up what you got and learn a bit if you want, it's quite interesting. But you do what you want. Seriously get the sip r2 on then a non limited cdi set up. Super. You're mucking about. You'll never get this time back, oh my.

Hello there here's a tip. every so often go round engine and check for tightness as two stroke vibrate badly and can work loose I put a touch of locktight on thread on on some nuts just to make sure. the last one I did was the bolt that holds the cylinder cover onto the cylinder head on the top.cheers alan.
