Hi everyone, I seem to have a problem with my px200. I've not had it long and the previous owner fitted a pinasco 215 kit, sip2, upjeeted carb. I finished the running in and it seemed fine, he did tell me he'd shut off the oil tank tho. On a weekend ride the scoot died..the throttle cable became detached. I dug further and found he had left the oil pump shaft in. I ripped the carb out, rebuilt it new gaskets etc Inc the air mixture screw and float needle. I also changed the throttle linkage from auto lub to premix. Took the shaft out and plugged the hole. I left the oil pump cover thing ( with the old throttle linkage) off, as I didn't think it would need it. After a few kicks it ran, it doesn't seem to respond to the top screw you use to adjust idle and it's also very smokey, even after 10 mins running. I then refitted the carb box top and the black air bellows thing followed by the side panel. And it then wouldn't start...at all. I removed the carb top box, air bellows and side panel..and it started. I have no clue what I might have done and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. Tia.

Sounds like its over rich and flooding by the fact if taking the top and filter iff its getting more air to assist it starting.
Make sure choke not sticking or stuck on
Regading the oil pump mechanism, last one i "blanked" i left it all in situ, with a piece of pipe on the feed tube closed with a bolt - no issues and was fine for years.
The pump is mechanical being driven by a worm drive and cog through the rotation if the cog so it doesnt matter if its left in

Thanks for the reply. Had another look today and realise the ht lead had worked loose (which would explain it dying out) 🙄, I also noticed the yellow earth had come detached. I'm struggling at the moment to make any adjustments that make much difference with the tickover screw and the air mixture screw. What would be causing all the smoke, especially on high revs ?.

Is the smoke white or blue?
It could be start of drive side seal failure.
Two checks : 1. Put you hand over the exhaust outlet, the bike should stop 2. Drain gb oil and check for petrol in oil.
If you have blanked the oil pump how much oil are you mixing?
Its hard to diagnose a problem without the bike in front of you.

Seems to be white smoke. Engine stops when I smother the exhaust. Haven't checked the oil yet.ive reset the air mixture screw to 1.5 turns out. I'm adding 3% as its kitted. I took the scoot out for a couple of miles and it seemed to lose power for a split second, twice, (soft seize?).I've only had the scooter two months and I'm beginning to wish I'd bought a gts tbh.

The motor stopping when covering the exhaust is a positive sign. The white smoke if the seal has gone is a very burned smell not the usual 2 stroke Pinasco 215 are usually very easy to jet. In their standard form you could have kept the oil injection and added 1% oil in the tank. Are you using a SI carb 24 or 26, if so what jets are in and has the timing been backed off?

I wished the previous owner had kept it as oil injection to be honest. Its si 24 carb..130 main jet, be3 mixer tube, 160 air correcter jet. I think the slow running jet is 55. I haven't noticed any burnt smell, jus a bit too much smoke imo. The brief power loss bothers me tho.😳

Can you reinstate the oil injection?
That set up should be a decent one.
Very difficult to diagnose when bike not in front.
Pilot shoukd be 50/160, all others are stock P2 except 130 MJ which seems high with SIP2 pipe.
Check timing and what head are you running?
Timing needs backing off to the IT mark which is 18 deg, standard P2 is on A mark which is 23 deg and is too high.
If the head profile is wrong that will cause you problems.

I wish I could revert it back to oil injection but without looking I think he might have removed the oil tank, I dunno, it could cost a small fortune and might not work. I will check the timing when I've bought a strobe light, I've a feeling it could need altering. I may be wrong but I think these pinasco kits come with a head. Seriously, thanks for the input and info, gives me a few ideas. I got home from work today and just thought I'd try something. I kicked the scoot over...without the choke, and it fired up straight away, that could be the cause of some of the problems?,

Pinasco used to come without a head, but its a while since i purchased or fitted one. Back then i used to modify the standard head.
Take carb box lid off and check choke, is working okay. Difficult to say if this is problem but a stuck choke wont help anything
You dont need a strobe to sort the timing, whip the flyweel off and look at the casing/stator timing marks, loosen stator screws and move stator to IT mark. Its as accurate as you need. If you have a strobe you can check it via the marks on the flywheel cowl and the arrow in the flywheel.
Best of luck
