Tools to remove ring off a crank

Hi guys. What tools have you used to remove the ring off a Vespa crank. I’ve found all sorts like 3 leg bearing removal tools and others but not sure what to get. I know about tools from sip and others scooter supplies but I don’t really want to pay that much money.

To remove the ring, the simplest way is to angle grind a little groove in it and then a couple of taps with a sharp cold chisel will pop it off.
I've just recently done it myself, it took 10mins.
I put the new one on with the proper tool, about a tenner off fleabay. it drives it on and leaves the 1mm gap that's specified.

Its the grinder method for me.
Back on with a perfectly sized piece of steel tube.

Good point about the gap at bottom, you often find them banged fully home.

I just have a spacer for that.

Use a paper click for the gap. 1mm. A friend is going to lend me his bearing puller kit. I did use a grinder years ago but I don’t have one at the moment. I will be getting one soon.
