Took apart the drive of the scooter. Removed starter gear, clutch, belt. And put it all back together. All torqued to spec.
Its now got a wicked vibration at all speeds.
Would a damaged belt perhaps be the culprit? Compressing the big spring in the clutch was really hard, and the belt kept slipping out when trying to refit…. In my frustration I might have damaged the belt getting it back on.
Would a belt that’s thinner in one spot cause a vibration? Got a little bit of a slapping sound as well…. Not from the engine, but from the drive belt/clutch area.

Hello take belt cover off and start bike then build up revs slowly and see what's happening could be a kink in belt if it's been wedged a while if it didnt vibrate before its defanatly something in transmission.just watch rear wheel dosnt touch the ground cheers alan.

Hello Alan. Thanks for this. I was unable to start the bike with the cover off, as the starter bendix just popped out too far and failed to engage. But I changed out the belt, and the bike now runs and drives as it should. No odd vibrations. Which is great. It also reliably starts. People have been advising me to fuel the bike using 97 E5, as E10 can cause issues. Probably sound advice. Still getting fuel in the oil. What could be causing that? Thanks for your help.
