Having a mare with my 99 plate ET4 125cc. It has the pre-leader engine.
It’s not starting. Ran fine one day. Came to start it, it clicks, but starter doesn’t turn.
Things I’ve tried -
1. Charged and tested battery 2. New starter relay. 3. New starter motor.
Still won’t turn over. The kickstarter is jammed, and won’t budge, which I think is a separate issue.
Get a nice solid click from the starter relay when the starter button is pushed, but the starter motor doesn’t turn.
It had the immobiliser bypass done at some point. Looks like it was done properly. Cabling looks proper.
Might be a wiring issue. Or a control unit issue, but I’m seeking guidance on where might be the issue. TIA.

Will put fresh in. Couldnt get the crank to turn, so removed the starter gear. Belt popped right off. Repositioned the roller between variator and starter gear. Now the engine turns. I think the belt might have been binding up somewhere behind the starter gear. Will check it has the right drive belt on it… as it looks new, but might not be the right one. But…. Promising signs. At least the engine is turning over. Oh, and the small kickstart pinion gear is shredded. Which is why the kickstarter felt wrong.

Been a learning curve…. But managed to get the scoot started.
Turned the engine by hand, remove and refitted the starter gear (nightmare, as the belt just continually got in the way), removed and refitted clutch, which looks like it was replaced/serviced recently.
Drained fuel mixed oil, put fresh in.
Bike will now start, and run and go down the road.
BUT it’s now got a wicked vibration at all speeds.
Would a damaged belt perhaps be the culprit? Compressing the big spring in the clutch was really hard, and the belt kept slipping out when trying to refit…. In my frustration I might have damaged the belt getting it back on.
Would a belt that’s thinner in one spot cause a vibration? Got a little bit of a slapping sound as well…. Not from the engine, but from the drive belt/clutch area.
