Hi there I am just wondering how many miles do you think is needed on a ride out ! Before you get a true reading on the plug ?? Just been out again for a few miles today about 7 miles done ! Is this a good time to read the plug after changing out jet size ?? Done about 10 ish miles now scine the up jetting do you think it will give a true reading? Regards soulboy74 ✊

Oohh at least 50miles. But they also need to be longish runs if you can to get it started. Trouble shows quickly keep your eye on it from time to time but also pay attention to how the bike is behaving. You'll get there . PATIENCE is the key here. If it rides right it's probably right.

Once plug has coloured you'll get a reading quickly with a hot engine. Always hot cold engine no good for plug colour.

Ha just read it properly. You can't get a true reading doing it how you doing it but it can give an overall idea of what's going on. This will show after a few miles. Engine hot. Only proper plug chops give true readings . That's what I think. But it'll probably be near enough of an idea for you to sort it out good and proper Bristol fashion. I think your doing just great.

I tried to get my jetting correct, by riding and checking the plug, thought I had things about right, as scooter was performing well and seemed happy, but I found out that at near full throttle things got very lean, and I seized it , and needed a new kit, so since that I now get it dyno as it works out cheaper than an engine rebuild

Hi there again l have been and had a look at the plug after the air filter drilling modifications and setting up a 98 main jet !! The colour was a dark chocolate brown ish !! Now it's changed to a lighter off White colour this is the porcelain peace in the middle and contact arm peace still a brown colour but still very clean on build up of any kind !! Might be a little bit lean now I not to sure l have some more news plugs coming and I will start from fresh with them one thing I did notice that one side is always a little bit darker than the other same when it was brown one side was always darker !! Any clues to why this happened ?? Got the charts now and there are so many different advice on what good and what is not going out tomorrow morning for a test drive and check it through the choke pulling method at speed 🤞 peace and love soulboy74 ✊

If its just the filter mod from standard its not a difficult jobto set it up in my opinion it does not a dyno for this. What is the set up ; Top end stand or kit Carb si 20/24/26 Exhaust? If jetting was okay before mod Is it the full opening of the filter (the heart shape) or just drilled above mj? If fully opened richen/raise the pilot by 1 and raise the main jet by 4 to start and see what happens should be unrideable then come down one at a time and you will probably come down to 2

Hi there yes all most standard set up just without the cat part of the exhaust system replacement manifold hook up to the original box!! Drilling modifications 5mm ) 8mm / above the jet stacks!! Had the 96 still in place so I just up jet to 98 running a lot more responsive so far so I think All is well just don't want to go over to the lean side!! Plug reading before the up jetting was a dark chocolate brown ish. Rich but clean. Now it's changed looking more off White middle contact part still brown ish ✊ good to go me think. Just leaning one step at a time in tuneup got the exhaust sip 2 next month 🏴 stay lucky soulboy74 ✊

Mines running a bit lean up top. It normally takes at least a year for me to jet it right. I think I have it but then the little voices are never happy. They make me tinker.
