Now is it normal for PX Vespa to leak oil from the top of the exhaust and sump !! Now on short runs l keep getting oil down my down pipe manifold not loads but a streak. Now I noticed that on long runs it must burn it off so it's always clean after a long run out. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening or is that okay just need to know All is well or not ! Peace and love soulboy74 ✊

Its a very crude joint system between exhaust and the cylinder. Take the exhaust off, make sure the cylinder stub is clean and smooth, use some emery cloth. Reassemble with some hi temp silicone

Yes I will give it a try next time I change out the exhaust system witch will be soon as I find it difficult to get down and dirty right now so I will just have to live with a bit of oil slick it's not leaving any puddle's underneath so thanks for your help and yes I thought it was something like that 👍 peace and love soulboy74

I have an alliminum barrel on mine and don't use the clamp , use springs instead and that always leaked, until I put a small amount of exhaust assembly paste around it

Hello there. this is what I do when putting exhaust back on. Clean inside of exhaust where clamp is then clean stub on barrel then a thin smear of exhaust paste around stub on cylinder head then put exhaust back on tapping it right on with a piece of wood and a hammer then warm exhaust up with heat gun slowly to set the joint and if poss leave overnight. Ive had no leeks when doing this good luck with it cheers alan.

Hello there. Regarding oil leak from bottom of engine I had this but only in winter when bike stood a few days in the cold garage the engine casing was shrinking in the cold causing the oil to sweep out I cleaned oil from underneath casing and put a thin layer of gasget sealent along the joint and let it set okay after that then when weather got better cleaned it off .should be ok till next winter good luck cheers alan.
