Hi,
I have a 1982 Vespa P200E - No battery. This was an import and restored, however the headlight was original and when I started the scooter the glass fell out (obviously the adhesion had rotted away) and smashed.
I have installed a new unit but when I took the top section off to replace, I must have lifted it a bit too far as a couple of wires have become disconnected. The headlight etc did work before this and now they do not. I have looked at the following schematic for the non-battery P200e:
But, the colours they indicate do not appear to be the ones available.
Does anyone have a picture or can describe the wiring for the headlight on a P200E please? Also, I cannot see clearly how the two lights that sit by the speedo are cabled. They have never worked, so it would be great to get those fixed too.
Many thanks for any help Clive

Can't tell you what colours the wiring will be, but easy enough with a multi meter 👍

If only a couple of wires became dislodged than its a case of trying to put these back in all the possible combinations. Trial and error with the engine running.

Aha, I have found what the issue is.
Let's say we are looking at the scooter headlight connections from the front. On the left hand side there is light Green cable and behind that, what looks like a Black cable coming up from the front stem. So, the Green cable comes from the switch on the right handle bar and the other comes up from the fron stem.
When I have the headlight out and free and connect the one from the stem to the left hand side (same connection as the Green one) the headlights work. The problem is that there is no play on that cable and when the headlight is placed back in position this second cable cannot quite reach the connection. I need about 1 cm of play for it to connect and stay connected.
Any ideas on how I can try and get another cm out of this cable (without having to replace) please?
I would much rather not cut the cable either and use a cable connector (although that would probably do the trick). I don't really want to have to run new cables either.
Many thanks for the help guys.
