Very much a novice but know a little and after a little advice please.
I've had the carb/airbox off for cleaning etc. and I've replaced the fuel and oil lines as they were not looking great.
Can somebody advise sensible things to do when starting for the first time after this please?
What are the best positions for mixture and idle screws? Do I need to add oil to fuel initially, before oil pump gets working? Should I add a touch of oil to cylinder or carb?
I've had a search and can't seem to find some guidance on what or what not to do. Thank you all for your help.

Hello. Sounds like your doing a super job already big fella. Here's what I would do next if I wanted to be super safe. Using gravity make sure fuel and oil pipes are full to the end. Or as much as they can be with as few bubbles as you can muster. Take spark plug out por dis conect ht lead and petrol on give it lots and lots of kicks this will push fuel and oil through. If you did have one or two bubbles you can study their progress into ya carb. Once it looks like these both going into you carb a few more kicks and your golden. Solid gold my friend. Sticking 2% in your tank is a fine safety measure though I'd semi empty the tank if you have a full tank and pop the rest back in after maybe 10 or 20 miles as everything should be hunky dory by then. Go easy until your running sweet again. I think you are doing just great! As for mixture screw 2.5 turn out is a rough guide but with that I think as long as its not so far out it'll fall out , any position that gets you a smooth take off is right. But that just me. Everyone's different Everyone's the same . Oh my.

Hi, I'm at a similar stage of my rebuild. I have tried priming the oil pump with a syringe and turning the engine over by hand while on the bench. So far no oil seems to be moving or appearing in the carb. Does it ideally need to kicked over or running to get the oil moving? Sorry to hijack the post. Thanks

As you probably know, the oil pump works off a cog from clutch/crank, so kicking it over in the frame will get thinks spinning faster and start the oil flowing better than trying to turn engine over on the bench 👍
