Ok, my VBA restoration is shaping up nicely (will post some pics soon promise!).. I'm struggling with choice of colour for the body, suggestions welcome.. Body is the classic, curvey early 60's style, with no sidepanel/mudguard trims and diddy 8" wheels. Seat is black, all other trim/fittings are silver. Rubbers are a mix of black and light grey as original. Tyres are whitewalls & I've some stainless centre caps for the wheels. Colour need to be classic, not modern, the scoot will look like it did in the early '60's, so a colour that was used then. It was metallic blue, but I don't want to use that. Forks, wheels, hub are all to be done in body colour as original. Spent a lot of time on it, want the colour to show the body to best effect and want to use a single body colour only. Needs to be a fairly light colour. I was thinking an off white, but wonder if this is going to be a bit bland, solid white is a bit harsh, also considering silver or even gold? What do you think?

Old english white as used on some rover cars is a good off white and is a good solid looking colour , The VCB might be able to help with the colour options that were available back in the day . Looking forward to the pics good luck .

Yep, that's the off white I had in mind it's called Rover Alum white, few mates have used it on their Lams..

I'm particularly partial to the metallic vintage green that early Vespas were.

My choice would be that off white Bryno. I always think it looks good and not bland at all.
And in my opinion, the only thing that looks good painted gold is Shirley Eaton.

I have to agree with Spence on that one, but I think the off-white would look good. Wasn't there a very pale blue back then as well?

^ ;D
Cheers for the suggestions so far..
The only colour the VBA came in was a metallic blue which is pretty greeny, probably what you are thinking of Spence. As my lam is met blue I wanted something else.
Off white was used on another model at the same time so certainly 'in keeping'.
It is the sensible choice, easy to work with and more forgiving, just thinking I've put soooo much effort into the body, is it going to be really STUNNING in a flat colour.. hmm!
If i did off white, may do wheels, forks, hub in silver rather than white? I think everything white may look a bit naff , need a bit of contrast..

No, the vintage green I'm thinking of is definitely green, not blue. It's a bit small, but here's a picture of a VBB that colour.

That's just gorgeous. I'm sure it will look lovely whatever colour you choose Bryno.
