Hi everyone I have been doing up a 2001 px125 disc that had been stood for 6 years now running and mot’d I checked the gearbox oil and found it to be low so filled it up to the filler screw level it took a fair bit of oil but when I started it up I got a load of white smoke, have I just overfilled it or is the gearbox oil seal gone? Any help would be much appreciated

If you let the oil drain from the filler too get correct level, then I would say oil seal, especially as it has sat for a number of years

Thanks that would explain why the gearbox oil level was low! I assume it’s an engine out job

I would have the engine out, give it a good clean and change bearings and seals, if it was mine and been sitting for so long. And while apart can give everything a once over

Yes I think your right, never had one of these engines apart but it’s all a learning curve! Where’s best to get the seals and bearings from?

And they will tell you exactly what you need to do the job. I have rung them before not knowing exactly what parts I needed, and they know exactly what, down to the last nut and bolt

Excellent I’ll have a proper look at their website tomorrow , I’ve used beedspeed and been unimpressed with them as they sent me half the wrong bits and took two weeks to do it!
