Hello all,
I'm on a bone stock PX125 with autolube and have been riding for a year, I've done some work on the scooter in this time (supported by this forum) but am by no means knowledgeable. I had the bright idea to clean my carb and fit the grommet which was missing around the mix screw to try and prevent oil leaking from what I assumed was blowback and since putting it back together I've been having some problems.
I'd had what I believe was a soft seize on my way to work, I got the scooter after work and it started ok and got me home but felt a bit boggy. I filled up with 2T which had dripped overnight enough to be noticeable. I assumed that I had wrongly lined up the gasket and possibly the hole for the autolube wasn't allowing oil to pass however, noticed when I took the carb apart that the airbox had quite a bit of petrol mixed with 2T. I ensured the carb was tightened down well (however, I don't have a little torque wrench with hex bits to go spec) and I used the air bubble in the oil line trick to make sure the gasket was letting oil past which seemed fine.
I went to work ok and decided to check my plug when I arrived to make sure I wasn't lean and at risk of another seize and the plug looked white so I increased the mix. Due to this on leaving work my scooter was very boggy, cut out at the end of the road. I thought I may have been a bit overzealous with the mix screw so f**ked around a bit and then the scooter cut out on a f**king steep hill (Kelston just outside Bath) and after some further f**kery with the idle and mix got home ok.
I'm going back to the drawing board today and the scooter seems to be running ok after more adjustment to the mix and idle but plug still looks a little white and I still have an amount of 2T and petrol in the airbox. I'm just wondering if this would lead to petrol running out faster as its pouring out of the card rather than into the engine and if anyone has any advice to resolve this.
My thoughts are:
1) f**ked gasket which is letting petrol out on carb to airbox.
2) f**ked airbox, the lip is all chewed up a from the inside looks like the carb is fouling like that FMP video on youtube (I've tried hitting with a hammer to make more space).
3) Wrong jetting.
4) Bad grommit from top to the bottom of the airbox.
I'd really appreciate some advice if this looks wildly outside normal or if I'm on the right track with my thoughts and where would be a good place to start.
